The Bishop: A Shepherd and Leader

1. Why is it that the Bishop is essentially a shepherd and a leader?

Answer: Bishops, as successors of the Apostles (Apostolorum Successores) by divine institution, “are constituted as Pastors of the Church when the Holy Spirit is conferred upon them at their episcopal ordination, and they receive the task of teaching, sanctifying and governing in hierarchical communion with the Successor of Peter and with the other members of the episcopal College”. (Congregation for Bishops, Apostolorum Successores, 2004)

2. How should a Bishop exercise his pastoral ministry as a shepherd-leader?

Answer: “Through sacramental ordination, he receives the power necessary to exercise his pastoral ministry (munus pastorale) as a sharer in the consecration and mission of Christ himself”. (Cf. Code of Canon Law, c. 1276 § 1).

Bishops as vicars of Christ “govern the particular Churches assigned to them by their counsels, exhortations and example, but over and above that also by the authority and sacred power which indeed they exercise exclusively for the spiritual development of their flock in truth and holiness, keeping in mind that he who is greater should become as the lesser, and he who is the leader as the servant (cf. Lk 22:26-27)”.

The rain, the water purifying element, that cleanses, sweeps away all the bad.

2. Unavailability of Angat Main (200MW) due to low water elevation
3. Forced outage of the following plants: QPPL (460MW), Pagbilao 2 (382MW), and Sual 1 (647MW)

The Visayas and Mindanao grids are under normal condition.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.

LOOK: As we celebrate the 58th World Communications Day, the Archdiocese of Caceres is pleased to release the Coat of Arms of the Third Bishop of Virac, Most Rev. Luisito A. Occiano, DD —who has served as Director of the Caceres Commission on Communications for the past twenty years.

The Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Louie will be on Friday, 21 June 2024, the Memorial of St. Aloysius of Gonzaga and his 53rd Birthday, at 09:00 AM, at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

His Solemn Installation and Canonical Possession will be on Wednesday, 26 June 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral-Parish in Virac, Catanduanes.
