In response to a recent teaching on the sanctity of life, I had a "Christian" scold me; she said, "You are making Christianity look bad".
Some profess to be Christian yet believe that God's word is negotiable. Although disappointed, even frustrated at times, it ceases to surprise me. Humans are prone to folly. Further complicating matters, the world is filled with "ministers, pastors, priests", etc., willing to à la carte God's word, so long as it returns an earthly dividend. I pray for them and those they mislead.
God has blessed you with the same free will He has blessed me. You are entitled to believe in whichever god, whichever doctrine you choose. You are free and encouraged to express your perspective. If you desire to add to, manipulate, or take from God's word, I will not agree, no matter how insistent you are, but I will not respond unkindly.
I strive to do my best to seek, heed, obey, and teach God's word without compromise. If you desire to learn and grow in God's word and help others do the same, you are in the right place. Your personal growth in God's word is invaluable, and I hope to inspire and guide you. On the other hand, if you intend to hear what you want to hear, this is what you need to know:
God's word is unchangeable; it is good and perfect, without compromise. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Note that God uses the word "All", not "Some". Our wise, graceful, and loving Father encourages us to seek, heed, and honor "All" of His commands. Furthermore, we are warned not to add to, manipulate, or take from God's word, Proverbs 30:5-6; 1 Corinthians 4:6, Deuteronomy 4:2, with perhaps the strongest warning found in Revelation 22:18-19.
The time spent making excuses, searching for a "workaround", etc., would be better invested in seeking, heeding, and obeying God's word. Will it always be easy to follow His word? No. Will you be "popular" for doing so? Probably not. Will it be worth it? Absolutely.
God bless.
