What might worry you about the next term? This film project seeks to give you a voice. What is this about?:
I am a Los Angeles based filmmaker who has an idea to collect as many people’s thoughts, opinions, and predictions on video about our President’s next 4 year term. After the most historic and polarizing election in the United States of America, everyone seems to have a lot to
say about the future of our country. Social media, TV networks, newspapers and even our dining room tables are consumed with opinions and predictions about our President-Elect’s upcoming term in office. It is impossible to predict right now what the next 4 years will look like, but I want to hear what you think our new President has in store for America! After 4 years, I want to compare and contrast those predictions with the reality of what actually happened. The Next 4 Years is a project that seeks to gather as much of your opinions and predictions as possible in video form. I have thought of 4 questions that anyone can answer. It doesn’t matter if you voted for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, a 3rd Party candidate, or didn’t even vote! Each question can be answered in a positive, negative or neutral tone. THE 4 QUESTIONS: (Answer under 2 minutes)
1. What do you hope our president will do over the next four years?
2. In what way(s) could our president disappoint you during the next four years?
3. Pick a particular topic that is important to you as a citizen. How do you think the next four years might affect the policies/laws related to your topic?
4. What do you think our President’s legacy will be after these next four years? The Plan:
You will record your answers to these questions with your phone or video camera and send them to me. Try to keep your responses to each question under or around 2 minutes each. Take some time before you answer to collect your thoughts and plan out exactly what you want to say. Short, solid sound bites are what I am looking for. I will collect all responses, and select some to be edited into video compilations. The plan is to start releasing a video for each question starting by the end of the first week of February 2017. After 4 years, I will check back in and request video submissions from those who originally were selected, and from anyone else who would like to talk about the previous 4 years.
*I may also create smaller compilations for different social media platforms throughout the 4 years, in order to depict more video responses
My Goal:
After 4 years I hope we all can learn something based on our initial reactions to our new President. I really don’t know what will happen, and my approach to this project is to keep unbiased as possible while selecting the responses for the edits. I want all sides to be heard; from the Far-Left and Right, to the Moderates, the hopeful, the fearful, and even the ambivalent. This project will serve as documentation of our nation’s thoughts for the next 4 years, and for the terms and Presidents to come. How to submit:
