* According to IRI statistics (Information Resources Incorporated), 26% of infant formula items were out of supply in the last week of May, while other data suggests that 73% of stores in the United States are out of stock on baby formula this week.
* EleCare, a specialist formula from Abbott Nutrition, has resumed production and will be available around June 20th. It will soon concentrate on creating the popular Similac brand and other formulae, which will take many weeks longer.
* The first cargo from the federal government's Operation Fly Formula will send approximately one million pounds of infant formula powder (enough to produce 11.4 million 8 oz bottles), roughly the same quantity of formula supplied in the United States over two days
* On June 3rd, the FDA reported that additional steps have been taken to import 1.3 million cans (enough to manufacture 33 million 8 oz bottles) of Nestle's Ge**er Good Start Gentle from Mexico, with availability expected from July through October.
