UK Theme Park Awards head to Thorpe Park for 2024 edition

This year’s UK Theme Park Awards will be hosted at Thorpe Park, with presenter George Akid also set to return to his role as host for the event’s awards ceremony.

Thorpe Park will be the host for this year’s UK Theme Park Awards, with George Akid set to return to his role as presenter for the awards ceremony at the popular attraction.

Representing the leading public facing awards for the UK theme park industry, the UK Theme Park Awards recognise the best rides and attractions, shows and events, as well as the theme parks offering the best customer service and value.

Featuring 22 voting categories, a shortlist of finalists has been whittled down by an expert panel of judges including Planet Attractions’ Editor-in-Chief, Tom Anstey.

Thorpe Park is nominated in a number of categories, including the coveted Theme Park of the Year, Best New Attraction and Best Theme Park for Families. The park has recently made a record-breaking addition, with the Mack-manufactured steel hypercoaster, Hyperia, representing the tallest (236ft, 72m) and fastest (80mph, 130kmph) rollercoaster in the UK.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming fellow industry peers from all over the country to the 2024 UK Theme Park Awards, hosted here at Thorpe Park - the home of feel-good thrills,” said Neil Poulter, divisional director for Thorpe Park.

Terra Mitica beloved Benidorm theme park announces opening date after two years of the pandemic

Terra Mitica, Benidorm’s beloved theme park, will be reopening to the public in June.

On Friday 29, April, the Terra Mitica theme park in Benidorm, Alicante, Spain, has announced that it will reopen its doors on 4, June after two years of the pandemic. The theme park is reportedly excited with “renewed energy and a lot of enthusiasm” to meet again with visitors to whom it will offer more than thirty attractions and shows, as reported by 20minutos.

In a statement, Terra Mitica also announced that its “emblematic” rides will return, including Titanide – the inverted roller coaster that reaches speeds of more than 100 km per hour , Syncope, Tornado – a 100-metre high tower with flying chairs – and Flight of the Phoenix, the impressive 54-metre free fall in just 3 seconds.

Canada’s Wonderland announces its full lineup of special events for 2022
