This is a great album! Many themes, many styles, and many many scales!!! But also riffs!!! All with tone, speed, and precision. What a player. This album makes me double down ob the sentiment that Dream Theater would be one of my favorite bands if I didn't hate the singer!

Holy Diver is one of my favorite albums of all time. The first album of Dio as a solo artist was recorded on the legendary Neve 8078 mixing board at Sound City studios, where many other legendary albums were recorded. I have always considered this album to be pretty much perfect, so I wasn't too interested in any of the many remasters that were released over the years. This year, however, Holy Diver was given an actual RE-MIX!!! Producer Joe Barresi was giveb the keys to all the tracks, and he produced his own mix. The results are FANTASTIC. In many ways, this is the Vivian Campbell mix. The guitars are loud, clean, and front & center. It sounds GREAT. The vocals sound cleaner and less processed, and the sound overall is less compressed. It gives you a more "live in the studio" feel. There are count ins and, for the most part, the fade-outs have given way to definitive endings. If I had a complaint, it would be a lack of bottom end, but the original was not ass heavy either, so it's not missing anything that the original had. The OG mix will always be the one that's burned into my brain, but this is the one I will be listening to for the time being. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
PS: I wish more classic albums get this treatment. Bark at the Moon leaps to mind. Remasters are lame. Re-mix that bitch!!!
