Was an honor working with the Indiana Weather Network team, but I knew because of my lack of resources and chase vehicle my time would be short. I’m more than happy to share photos and send them in as a viewer and follower whenever I can. Thank you for the oppurtunity. With that said. I am officially retired from storm chasing. The same day Aaron Donald retires from the Rams and football. It’s quite fitting. Thank you all for your support but it’s time to focus on the next chapter of my life.

Severe Weather Alert Day! Northern IN/SW Michigan
Timing of storms look to be this evening into tonight. We’ll know much more by 6pm. Severity of the storms all depend on that cap, all the ingredients are in place for strong storms, but like a bottle of beer, when you shake it, that cap prevents the bottle from exploding. This is how storms work too, the shear and rising dew points are stirring and bubbling, but as long as that caps in place we could literally see nothing but rain. So if you hate storms, keep hoping the cap stays in place. I’ll be in alert mode if the cap breaks though, then we’re in for a show. Stay tuned for further info. KW3CRS St. Joseph County, IN.

Looking for an SUV to chase with. Any recommendations? Storm Scout 4 aka Big Red is retiring early, been a beast but it’s really expensive on gas and I mostly use it for work.

Winter Storm Elliott is really causing problems in the plains to my west, I’m on standby alert for this approaching potentially historic storm. It looks to be evolving into a bomb cyclone. Double yikes. My advice, stay home folks, seriously, do not go out in this storm, frostbite can occur within minutes to any exposed skin. Make sure to let outdoor faucets drip, Chicago, this is your last warning before the storm approaches. If you do travel, have a blanket to stay warm and cat litter on hand in case you do get stuck, it’ll help you with traction. I urge every single person to take this seriously. Keep your pets inside, if you can provide shelter for strays that’ll be appreciated as well. Blowing and drifting snow will cause whiteout conditions, making travel almost impossible. Here in South Bend I’m expecting a hard freeze starting this evening and overnight, temperatures rapidly dropping will cause electrical wires to freeze up, so I expect widespread power outages. Keep any kind of heat source near you at all times. This storm will last up until Saturday afternoon for my area locally, as it moves east.

Update on Brandon Copic: he is safe, reached out to family. They only request that you give them privacy.

27/10/2022

Sending a heartfelt message to fellow storm chaser Brandon Copic, who’s last ping was updated somewhere in SE lower Michigan near I-75 per Reed Timmer. Mental health issues are no laughing matter and I hope he gets the help he needs. My prayers are with him and hoping he’s safe.

Yesterdays storms unfortunately claimed a young life. 17 year old male was driving near Dowagiac MI when a tree branch fell on his vehicle and he lost control, swerved off the road and crashed into a tree ending his life immediately. Sending my condolences to the family and friends of this young man. I will not be releasing any name. Just a quiet prayer.

We’ve just been upgraded to a moderate risk for the second round of storms tonight. Moderate is level four out of five. Now we need to pay attention. Be alert for any rapidly changing weather conditions.

Today is a Derecho Alert Day for my local area. The line looks to be Beloit WI, Chicago IL, South Bend IN, Fort Wayne IN to Lima OH. Moving in a southwest direction. People in and around those areas need to be weather aware today. Timing looks to be 2pm ET to Midnight ET. This could last overnight and reach parts of Pennsylvania as well. Main threat are damaging winds. Isolated tornadoes not out of the question though if this doesn’t bow out.

11/06/2022

Keeping an eye on Monday for Chicagoland and lower Great Lakes for conditional tornado threat. All depends on the cap.

25/05/2022

It’s go time

25/05/2022

5% tornado risk for much of northern Indiana and southern Michigan. Tornado threat is increasing for my local area. I will be on standby, but will go active if a watch is issued. Stay weather aware!

20/05/2022

Wow, tornado on the ground over Ga***rd Michigan, take shelter in that area!

The chasing community lost three young aspiring meteorologists this past weekend….Nicholas Nair, 20; Gavin Short, 19; and Drake Brooks, 22. all lost their lives tragically on a return trip from a very successful storm chase in Kansas. My prayers are with them, their families, friends and others who were positively impacted by these three brave young men. Rest In Peace fellas, and thank you for your service!
