I want to apologize about the sound quality of my microphone on this episode though. I tried to fix it as much as I could. We had a great year and I'm excited to read all the great books coming out in 2025.

It's the last Friday the 13th of the year 🔪
So, it's an appropriate day to talk about what a great time it is to be a slasher fan. I talked about this a bit in an upcoming episode of . These stories have first of all, been obviously written by people who have a deep love and appreciation for the slasher formula and turned up the dial on the characters and filled these stories with heart. More than one of these books moved me to tears and gave us final girls to remember.

I've had a few people reach out for suggestions for this specific prompt. I've made a lot of horror books but with a time-related word on the title. It can be for a time of day, or a specific day/month/season.

I decided not to wait until January to buy a notebook because I realize there aren't actually any rules about that, and I can do what I want?? I've been getting spammed (and influenced) on the other app about junk/art journaling so this is my attempt. One of my first little spreads is for Candy Cain Kills Again. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to do book pages. Any ideas?

Stand by my decision to get the UK cover for this one. After loving Penance and Boy Parts, I knew I had to get this short story collection the minute I heard about it. Yes, my nightstand is always just a pile of books, you know how it is.

Voted and it feels so good. Not pictured: the full glory of the frog and toad tee, and the house I turned upside down while looking for (unsuccessfully) my camo Harris Walz hat 🥲
Also, have a bit of a book haul! Some of these were sent by publishers (tagged in the picture) and some from a recent trip to B&N! I can't believe there's already 2025 titles in this stack. Where did the year go??
Plans for today include working, possibly getting some holiday decorations up, but definitely throwing my phone out of reach while we eat pizza and watch LOTR extended versions. What about you?

Happy Halloween freezer friends 🎃🍂🎉
I still stand by most of these Readalikes for one of my favorite franchises. There have been a few new slasher stories and new entries in some series that have come out since this was made, but I think these are good books for each of these installments.
What are you doing for Halloween today?

It's "that whole conversation"...but it's fun because it's with CJ Leede. We are diving into the epic post-apocalyptic coming-of-age masterpiece that she just released, American Rapture.
