In 2015, when my producers and I decided to put together a show on diverse voices in tech, I knew Mike Street (my left, your right) had to be on the show. Back in 2010, when I went looking for blacks in tech, my search led me to Mike. Mike was the leader, connector and curator of all things black in tech. We connected a couple of times during his illness. I’m crushed to know he has passed. Without question, his legacy as an innovator, connector, curator, disrupter and overall beautiful human will live on. Rest In peace Mike🙏🏾 Here’s the episode Mike was featured on: https://youtu.be/WrLqAWwacSk

HERstory!

Kristen Clarke has spent her career fighting for equal justice and protecting Americans’ civil and voting rights. As the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, she will continue that fight as we see a rise in voter suppression and hate crimes across the country.

"I think there may have been, at least in the past, quite a few Black women who didn't see themselves as political leaders, formally," she said. "And now, they're seeing that possibility and they're seeing the opportunity, and they're connecting it to what it's going to mean to help their communities. And I think that's something that's very — it's very powerful." - Kim Janey

Congrats to Kim Janey, the FIRST Black woman to be the Mayor of Boston in its 391-year history! Before Kim, 54 white men have filled this role, and it ends now.

We celebrate you and look forward to seeing what you will achieve in our city!
