The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation honored David Bruce Cassidy with the formation of The David Cassidy Memorial Sanctuary Fund. They made the formal announcement at David Cassidy Memorial Legacy Group DCMLG’s Celebration of Life. It was our first event in May 2018.

David Cassidy is truly the best singer ever. He is in a class all his own. He shines on his own with all his amazing accomplishments and is a good man. He wanted a better world. The best way to honor him is being kind to others. Never deliberately try to hurt others. He was an amazing humanitarian and a horseman. He is respected by that horse community. Thoroughbred Horse Racing gave him a refuge and retreat from the craziness in his other life. Here is a direct quote on this.

“Thoroughbred horse racing is my truest passion. I study bloodlines and escape the craziness in my life. It let’s me keep my sanity in the insane world I live in. Saratoga is my retreat. Truly my most favorite place on earth. When I look into the eyes of my horses I know that they love me as much as I love them. They expect only love. They do not use me or hurt me. The same cannot often be said about some people I have encountered in my life. I have a group of friends whom I do trust and many have four legs and a beautiful spirit to run. When I’m surrounded by the horses I find a calm and peace that I cannot find in any other part of my other life. Like I said it’s an escape.

I recently wrote this letter to Time magazine after their 2023 publication of their top 100 most influential people list. This after David Cassidy not being included on the list:

Someone who should have been included in your 100 influential people list is David Bruce Cassidy. His career spanned 57 of his 67 years. In 1960 at age 10 he was in the choir in the L.A. Theatre production of The Pajama Game. Then again in 1965 in the L.A. Theatre production of And So To Bed with his mother Evelyn Ward. Fast forward to 1969 when he performed on Broadway in The Fig Leaves are Falling. All the guest appearances on TV dramas such as Bonanza, Mod Squad, Adam 12, Marcus Welby, Medical Center, FBI and Police Story the name a few. Four years on Partridge Family World tour concerts setting records at venues all over the world from the Houston Astrodome to Melbourne Cricket Grounds, White City etc in his world tour. More than 18 gold record albums. Then later performing at Royal Albert Hall and in productions of Time and in performance in Canada as well as Tribute. Performing in Blood Brother in the U.S. and Great Britain. Performing in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Little Johnny Jones. Songwriter extraordinaire. Wrote songs for others besides his own music including Cher and Asia. Wrote and helped others an never got included in credits. Sang backup on albums such as for the band America Concerts up til his last in March 2017. Made an album Songs My Father Taught Me late in his career. His career was going to go in that musical genre had he lived. A successful career in Vegas in EFX, At The Copa and The Rat Pack is Back. That’s part of that amazing 57 year career of David Cassidy. He was also a kind and good man and an amazing humanitarian. He was involved as a horse breeder and horse owner in Thoroughbred Horse Racing also caring for thoroughbred horses after their racing career were over by supporting thoroughbred aftercare He was also involved in Voices That Care a project to boost the morale of soldiers in Desert Storm. He gave in times of disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. He gave when the World Trade Center attack occurred. He gave to so many charities including children’s charities for juvenile diabetes and childhood cancer to name a few. He cared about the world and wanted peace. He helped his fellow Broadway actors who acquired AIDS. His heart was as big as his talent. Maybe for next year you will include David Cassidy.

DCMLG works to strengthen David’s legacy. If you care about David then watch what you post. Is it strengthening his legacy? David Bruce Cassidy was a good and kind man who had a philosophy of peace David was a philanthropist. David had an amazing 57 plus year career and his career accomplishments are amazing. His private life is no one’s business to pry into. Your posts also are a reflection of your character. Even prospective and current employers look at your social media. David has passed away. He is not here to defend himself. DCMLG is here and all our pages work to strengthen his legacy. It is a poor reflection of someone’s own character who speaks ill of a person who has passed especially one who has done as much good in his life as David. It is also Especially saddening if you claim to be a fan. If you care about David and his legacy share his music, his acting and songwriting.

David was so accomplished in Broadway, Vegas, TV, Writing Songs, Acting and his career spanned almost 5 decades. He was a good person. With all his accomplishments and kindness and humanitarianism and his love of horses and caring about their aftercare, let’s tell the sensational journalists to stop using David. He was used so much in his life. Many of these people told untruths about him and still do.

Our message to David himself: David, we thank you for your amazing life and for your trying to make our world better, BECAUSE YOU TRULY DID. THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE YOU LIVED IN IT!!!!!
