ith the American Heart Association Health Equity Council to promote awareness and skill building for heart disease and stroke prevention in at risk populations (2006-2012). She is very active in promoting diabetes awareness, prevention, and self management. She is an active member on the Wisconsin Diabetes Advisory Group of the Wisconsin Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (WDPCP) – a statewide coalition of stakeholders from all healthcare disciplines, consumers, vendors, service organizations, public health agencies, academia, and alike, to promote implementation of the “Wisconsin Essential Diabetes Mellitus Care Guidelines” throughout the State of Wisconsin (1998-present). Greer is a partner in three grant initiatives, the Milwaukee Childhood Obesity Prevention Program, a 4-year Robert Wood Johnson Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities Initiative (2010-2014), the Milwaukee Mobile Market Nutrition Education Project (2011-2013), both of which are creating model policies and promoting environmental change to improve healthy eating and active living practices in at-risk communities; and the Growing Your Future Project (Youth Gardening and Future Empowerment Program, Summer/Fall 2012), a collaborative grant of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Childhood Obesity Prevention Program, and the Wisconsin Beverage Association.
