SYNOPSIS: Coming Home tells the story of the translocation of two orphaned rhino calves to their new home in the Somkhanda Community Game Reserve in South Africa.
The film features leading conservationists, including Dr. Dave Cooper (KZN Wildlife), Kester Vickery (Conservation Solutions) and Dereck Milburn (The Aspinall Foundation) as they co-ordinate with dozens of passionate conservationists, game rangers, and specialists to securely immobilize, transport, and release the animals to their destination.
For Mpilo, it is a return to the place of his birth. In 2017, at only ten months old, Mpilo was left crying next to the body of his mother, who had been poached for her horns.
Coming Home shows and shares the truth behind what it takes to protect Africa's natural heritage, and the great efforts being undertaken to restore the balance of our world.
WINNER: Audience Award 2021 International Wildlife Film Festival
