I feel like a lot of people don't actually know my back story and how I got started, so here goes story time;
Before I started I was already pretty into EDM/Dubstep, listened to a lot of Monstercat, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Excision & more, I even had Eiffel 65's Europop album on CD. I went to my first show in 2011, then again for Life In Color 2013 in Cleveland and after that I loved the whole atmosphere of shows, loud music and the energy of everyone enjoying and having a love for the same thing as me.
I started dabbling with the Ableton demo because I heard thats what Skrillex uses lol, and looking up guides/videos on how to produce dubstep. Not shortly after I moved onto FL Studio because for me the flow felt better. It also never really occurred to me that I could also be a DJ until I saw a computer graphics classmate I had in high school playing with Serato, that's where it all started haha, i was downloading mixing apps and doing whatever I could to just mess around with mixing because I thought it was really fun and interesting.
Fortunately for me, my older brother had a friend at the time who was also a DJ/Producer by the name of Tron or Tronmusic (some of you may know him), and he would show me some tricks and give me advice on DJing and would let me practice on his expensive equipment a couple times. I ended up getting to play a couple house parties which was very fun and good experience before I eventually started playing in real venues. In 2014 after I graduated is when I was able to buy a Traktor S4 and a laptop to use with it, because I needed it for the classes I was going to be taking online for an EDM Producing/DJing school called Dubspot, where I took their Music Foundations class which is music theory stuff, and their DJing with Traktor course, where i learned the fundamentals of DJing and how to do it the RIGHT way, through Traktor. My instructors were DJ Shiftee and DJ Endo, you may/may not have heard those names but it was very cool to learn from them because they're EXTREMELY talented DJs/turntablists.
In early 2015 is when I got my first opportunity to play in a real venue at The Basement with other talented hip hop artists and DJs, for a rather shady promoter called Sub C events, for these shows basically you were put on it, given 25 tickets to tell and whoever you sold those tickets to were who was going to show up, there was 0 promotion from Sub C so you really had to push it yourself. Sometimes I played in front of 3 people, sometimes I played in front of 25-30 at The Basement/A&R Bar, at the time it was very fun but it was also very good experience and makes you appreciate promoters who do it right, Sub C also had The Newport for shows which I also had the opportunity of getting on and that was one of the best experiences of my life, because a friend of mine who was also on the show and I got about 200 people in there for our sets and that was SO fun!
Eventually in late 2015 is when I met Jonathan Ely through Instagram and talking about lacrosse, who also introduced me to Jordan Reid, I had also found Ignyte Events at that same time through them who were throwing Dubstep shows at Skullys so I knew this was the right place to be and it was a real relief from playing shows for Sub C. IF YOU'VE READ THIS FAR I LOVE YOU 😂😂
I then got my first show at Skullys opening for SKisM, MUST DIE! and LAXX in 2016 and it took off from there, i started playing a lot of great shows from 2016-2019 with amazing headliners like Black Tiger S*x Machine, Liquid Stranger, FuntCase, Svdden Death and more!! I was part of Donut Squad which was me, BBX and Tanner Sagle, played even more amazing shows and expanded out to several different states and had such an amazing time doing that!! More recently I've played a couple shows for Xodia, and i've turned a lot of my focus to producing, and I can't wait to see you all again soon! That was really long but thank you if you read the whole thing 😂💙
