Our Story
Hello, Chuli and Grace here! We met in New York Film Academy summer camp in 2017 and wanted to keep in touch with each-other; more than just texts and calls, but through interviews.
What’s with the name?
Our name is based on an African saying where 'coconuts' stands for misfit. And both of us - Grace is a third culture kid and Chuli is someone who has experienced social class migration - are generalised as ‘coconuts'. The word 'nutshell’ signifies the dome of standards and expectations and stereotypes an and glass ceilings which are pre-exist before our morals and ideal are formed.
