𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱.
Legend has it that the owner of Manish Post Office refused to sell his land to make way for a new six lane super highway through the Bays of Harris. He refused to budge and so forced the road contractors to build around him. The additional cost to divert the new road around the post office is why the road will forever be known as 'The Golden Road'.

In a bid to appease islanders opposed to Sunday opening, Tesco are building a brand new multi-storey, multi-faith car park adjacent to their store in Stornoway. The spacious new 'Pray and Display' car park will be available to church goers only. Non-believers will continue to use the existing car park - to be renamed 'Tesco Car Park (continuing)' - risking scratched paint and dented bodywork as per usual.

A man who arrived on the Isle of Harris yesterday is kicking himself after spending a ton of money on four nights in Reykjavík to see the Northern Lights.

Trevor Wilcox, a retired accountant from Woking, had hoped to see the famous northern lights before he died, so he booked the trip for himself and his wife to mark his sixty-eighth birthday in August.

“It was cloudy every night we were in Iceland, so we didn’t see a bloomin' thing. Then the very day me, the dog and the wife arrived in Harris with our motorhome, there I was emptying our porta potti in that layby at Seilebost, while staring at the bleedin' northern lights. Could've saved myself a fortune.”

The BBC has apologised after an episode of Escape To The Country sparked war with locals on the Isle of Skye.

Furious residents were up in arms when footage showed a couple's motorhome parked in a passing place - a road violation.

Viewers blasted the broadcaster over the 'ridiculous' scene, which showed presenter Diane chatting with a house-hunting couple (budget £500k), supping tea while perched on camping chairs beneath their motorhome's awning, which was clearly parked in a passing place on a single-track road.

In next week's episode of Escape To the Country, presenter Diane tries smacking a cow's arse with a Banjo.
