SENIOR DAY EXPO will take place on Thursday October 26th in Shreveport!

Make plans to attend the largest senior/boomer expo in the State of Louisiana. The 13th annual “Senior Day Expo at the Louisiana State Fair” will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport.

Admission is FREE and parking is FREE. There will be lots of fun, entertainment, presentations, hundreds of giveaways, hundreds of door prizes, many health screenings, vaccines, and valuable information from over 100 exhibitors.

Attendees can also register to win one of the special GRAND DOOR PRIZES valued at over $1,000 each! Must be present to win any of the door prizes.

I'm proud to announce that The Best of Times was awarded 18 national awards at the recent North American Mature Publishers Association (NAMPA) convention. We’re especially proud to have been awarded the prestigious Best of Show in our division. Member publications were judged in a wide variety of writing, design, website, and overall excellence categories by the prestigious University of Missouri School of Journalism - the oldest journalism school in the US and widely recognized as the top journalism school in the world. Gary and I are very grateful and honored, but the accolades are really a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our graphic designers, writers and contributors. It's their talent and commitment to excellence and to our readers that brings this publication so much success. So proud to feature this amazing blended image on our cover!

This Month's Issue of The Best of Times!
Last month Tina Calligas contacted us about doing a cover photo for this month's Best of Times Magazine. She told us that they were doing a feature on the Northwest Louisiana Archives at LSUS and what they are doing to preserve the history of Northwest Louisiana. Since we work so closely with both of them, she wanted us to come up with a unique picture that captures what the Archives are about so she could feature it on the front cover. Mark and I got together and come up with this idea and put it together! We thought this was a way we could thank them for allowing us to uncover so much history! Sarah (Sally) Hamer hit a homerun with the story and the cover was a huge hit as well! They say a photo is worth a thousand words, well this cover tells exactly what the Archives are all about! This building is bursting at the seams with history just waiting to be uncovered! Huge thanks to Dr. Laura McLemore, Domenica Carriere and Fermand Garlington for preserving, among other things, the 1.5 MILLION photographs, negatives and film documenting this area's history! Also, a special thanks to Tina Calligas for not only using this photo for the December cover but for also featuring 2 of our blends every month in the magazine!
