openSecurity

openSecurity Challenging the concept and construct of security with the global public. A section of openDemocracy, based in London. Follow us on twitter .

openSecurity, a section of openDemocracy, publishes analysis and comment on issues of conflict, violence and reconciliation. Our pieces take a critical eye to the structures of security policies and thinking, appreciating the longer histories and deeper roots behind them. Rather than defining what security is, we seek to investigate and identify how insecurity is exploited and transformed into sec

urity doctrines. Though headquartered in London, we work with a global network of partners and contributors. We respond to those flares of violence that capture global attention, while balancing them against our long-term focuses on those issues that rarely make the headlines. We aim to reflect the diversity of challenges facing states and citizens alike. On-going projects include:
- Syria's Peace: what, how, when?
- Future Under Surveillance
- Conflict in Context: Colombia
