✨ Today, with immense joy, I will receive my Doctorate Honoris Causa from Gestalt University of Mexico 🇲🇽🌎

This honor celebrates not only my more than 30 years of career in music and academia, but also the dream of bringing my art to the world stage.

I am proud to be the first Ecuadorian, Hispanic, and Ibero-American nominated for a GRAMMY® in the category Best Contemporary Blues Album with my twelfth record, The Fury. In a category where legends such as B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Ruthie Foster, and Joe Bonamassa have made history, today my name stands alongside theirs. 🏆🎵

I have also been nominated for the Latin GRAMMY® as a mixing engineer, and throughout my career I have had the honor of sharing the stage with blues icons such as Sugar Blue, Sandra Hall, Lurrie Bell, Billy Branch, and Chembo Corniel.

My music has been featured in Rolling Stone USA and the Daily Guardian (UK), reaching audiences across five continents and hitting number one on radio stations and music charts worldwide. As a producer and composer, I have created more than 90 albums, written 178 songs registered with ASCAP, and hold more than 350 official credits in the industry. My studio, AVA Recording Studios, has been nominated for both the GRAMMY® and the Latin GRAMMY®, consolidating itself as a benchmark in music production.

In 2025, I was honored by the United States Congress for my service to the community and the music industry—an honor very few have received. I am also grateful to ASCAP for recognizing my work as a composer.

Beyond the stage, I have dedicated more than 9,448 certified university teaching hours over 18 years, impacting institutions in Ecuador, Mexico, and Spain at undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels. 🎓

💫 This Doctorate Honoris Causa is not only mine: it belongs to everyone who has walked beside me on this journey, believing in the power of music, education, and culture to transform lives.

✨Today I want to share with you news that fills my heart with pride and gratitude.

Today I will receive the Doctorate Honoris Causa, a recognition that not only values my career, but also the commitment and effort of those of us who represent the music industry before the world. 🎵🎶

In this ceremony, my nomination for the GRAMMY® in the United States 🏆👨🏽‍🎤 will also be highlighted— a moment that shows how music, art, and culture can break down borders and build universal bridges.

Because when a leader transcends, their story inspires everyone. ✨
This achievement is not only mine: it belongs to every person who has believed in this dream and walked beside me on this journey.

💫 Thank you for being part of this story!
Thank you, Gestalt University Mexico 🇲🇽 Midworld Cloister 🌎

🎶 Blues drifts through invisible passages,
where every shadow holds an echo
and every reflection is a testimony of the soul.

In silence, the music finds its own path.

📸 Sometimes dressing differently is not just an outfit… it’s changing your skin.
Music has taught me that every stage is a transformation, a rebirth.
That’s what blues is: leaving the old behind and giving voice to the eternal. 🎸🔥

The precise moment when everything becomes eternal and the music is captured for posterity.
Recording is the closest thing to immortality — every time I record or produce, I always think: “this is your moment to make magic.”
When you close your eyes and listen to the music you were able to create, you realize that your spirit blossoms and shines forever.

“Listening to my Walkman was like opening a secret door to a world where only the music and I existed.”

I remember walking through the streets of my neighborhood with the Walkman in my pocket and the orange headphones covering my ears. Every time I pressed the play button, the noise of the world faded away and the only thing that mattered was the tape slowly turning. Sometimes the batteries would die right in the middle of my favorite song, and I had to flip them around just to squeeze a few more minutes of life out of them.

That feeling of carrying several cassettes in my backpack, swapping them like treasures, made me feel as if I was bringing my own musical universe wherever I went. That’s where my passion for sound was born, which later continued with my collection of vinyl records… but that’s another story. The only thing I can say is that this story will go on, as long as the music keeps playing forever.

“I remember one night, when I was a kid, the power went out in the whole house. Darkness covered everything, and we only had a small flashlight that my dad held carefully. I was a little scared, but he, with that creativity that always defined him, said: ‘Look closely at the wall, I’m going to introduce you to someone.’

He put his hand in front of the light and suddenly, a huge dinosaur appeared on the wall, mouth wide open, its shadow looking as if it had come to life. He moved his fingers as if they were the teeth and neck of the animal, and I, laughing and amazed, swore I could hear it roar.

That night I learned that imagination doesn’t need electricity to shine. All it takes is a little light, a pair of hands, and a heart ready to create magic… and that’s how the dinosaur-shaped hand was born hehe.

“Being yourself is your greatest power.”

In the blues, every note is born from the soul, without masks or embellishments. Just as a guitarist lets their heart guide every chord, living authentically means expressing yourself without fear, in your own voice and your own rhythm. Blues doesn’t imitate — it tells real stories; you, too, are a unique story. When you embrace who you are, your life becomes an unrepeatable song, capable of touching hearts and leaving an eternal mark. That is your true power.
