🍉URGENT MUSIC CALL TO ACTION: the west philadelphia community is now responding to our local goverment's attempts to erase this site of rebellious mourning for g@za. please share music urgently and comment or dm this account with words of support so we can show the city our reach!
or for updates.
CONTEXT:
has urged our global music community to creatively use music to support palestine in this time.
in philly, we are playing weekly music at a standing art installation in west philadelphia honoring the lives of palestinians killed by the iof in gaza and the west bank this fall. the site calls for permanent ceasefire and a just peace to follow (including an end to occupation).
on the night of this recording, 10/31/23, our country was celebrating halloween:
"on this night, when the veil is thinning and so many of the children in this country are out dressing up as macabre and ghastly agents of carnage, i hope we can use music and improvised ritual to protect this space in community. it stands to witness and honor the lives of 3,000+ children killed by the zionist war machine in gaza this month alone, as well as 2,000+ kids who remain unaccounted for."
the sales of this album will be donated to mutual aid funds supporting palestinian liberation, with receipts to be announced on
the music will also soon appear on marco caricola's 'sonic protest' show on radio alhara (!!), bringing things full circle: from palestine to philly and back to palestine (www.instagram.com/marcocaricola__/). thank you marco for the support and the fierce clarity of your call for protest music in this moment.
there is no right way to make music in the face of an ongoing genocide. every tenuous sound we attempt now is meant to help others feel less alone and more embraced. please let your listening focus you on what you will do next (for liberation).
