Chrysalis is hiring Peer Reviewers and Layout/Design Editors!

Looking to get more involved with publications at McGill? Look no further than Chrysalis, McGill's only International Development-focused undergraduate academic journal. We are recruiting 3-5 peer reviewers and 1-2 Layout Design Editors.

Peer Reviewers will liaise with professors and provide feedback on 1-2 articles accepted for publication in Chrysalis. Work should begin in late January and should last no more than one month.

Layout Design Editors will be responsible for the design of the visual elements of the journal. Layout Design Editors will be compensated with a small stipend.

The ninth thesis video in our series of author interviews is out today in the lead up to our journal launch TOMORROW!

The Catalyst team met with Barbara Clark to discuss his paper “Water Sanitation Security: The Implementation of Autonomous Desalination in the Gaza Strip” in the upcoming Spring 2021 edition of Chrysalis. Barbara’s article proposes a plan to provide sustainable water supply resources to the Gaza Strip, currently deprived of such resource due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Israeli blockade.

The Catalyst team met with Shaquiera Hamilton to discuss her article “Reimagining Jamaican Black National Identity Through the Voices of the Dispossessed: A Counter-Hegemonic Movement” in the upcoming Spring 2021 edition of Chrysalis. Her paper explores the colonial cultural narratives employed to enforce Black inferiority in post-independence Jamaica, and how Black Jamaican music is used as a tool to challenge these oppressive systems.

We are pleased to announce that Kai Scott will be next year's Editor-in-Chief for Chrysalis as the upcoming IDSSA VP Publications!

Kai's undergraduate research on nation-building in West Papua was published in the Spring 2021 issue of Chrysalis. Outside of the classroom, Kai has been working as a Research Assistant for Prof. Erik Martinez Kuhonta at the Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID) at McGill. Additionally, Kai worked as Managing Editor for our sister publication, Catalyst, for the 2020-2021 academic year. We look forward to seeing his accomplishments as next year's Editor-in-Chief!
