What irritates me the most is when other people don’t see me as Rivers mom too. Just because I didn’t birth my son doesn’t mean I don’t love him, provide for him, treat him as my own blood. River IS my son and if you don’t see it that way please remove yourself from my life because my son will be raised in a circle of love and support not hate.

Because I’m “gay” I had to go through a lot of extra things like not having insurance cover anything for IUI or IVF since it’s considered an elective for being a same s*x couple so that means everything had to be paid completely out of pocket before anything could be done. I also had to legally second parent adopt my own son after he was born JUST to have the rights as an other parent and all because I’m “gay”.

My wife and I did 4 cycles of IUI, one was a miscarriage and 3 were non pregnancies. We did a round of IVF and are thankful our little guy stuck.

My SON is my SON and I’d do anything for him.

Praying for comfort. Our hearts hurt a little.

Today has been emotionally exhausting. Our Julian got very sick and old age didn’t help so we had to put him down today.

Julian you were the most amazing dog. You protected our little family with your love and loud bark. Even if it sounded like an angry chihuahua. We will miss you. Rest easy our precious fur baby. 💔🐶🌈

We’re making this post so you can see our journey. It’s not over yet. We’ve hired an attorney to do the second parent adoption process and after our many cycles of IUI and IVF, we’ve spent out of pocket around 80k and are reaching out to our support circle to try and raise around 3k for the adoption process. We aren’t ones to ask for help but it’s sad that just because we are a same s*x couple that I have to legally second parent adopt my own child. The adoption process requires us to hire a lawyer which we have done, do background checks through DFPS and FBI for our own child, and do have a home study completed by hiring a caseworker. Trigger Warning ⚠️ -Mentions of miscarriage & Pregnancy

I wanted to give the ones struggling some hope. It’s possible, so don’t give up!

As many of y’all know we have started our baby journey quite some time ago. We have gone through 4 cycles of IUI. Our journey started with fertility issues, then being diagnosed with PCOS. Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that occurs when cysts form on a woman’s ovaries. An imbalance of hormone levels in a woman’s body causes the cysts to form. The cysts are like tiny, fluid-filled balloons. This makes our chances at getting a positive pregnancy a bit tougher than usual. When we did our first IUI it ended in a miscarriage at 4.5 weeks. Our second IUI was a negative pregnancy, 3rd IUI was negative as well as our 4th IUI being negative. We are here sharing our story so others know it’s ok to go through things like this. Is it easy? Absolutely not, but here we are doing it! After our last appointment of failed IUI our fertility specialist recommended we start IVF. We are now into our IVF journey.

Update: We have been on our IVF journey a few months now. After all the hormones, watching follicles grow and roller coasters of emotions the doctor was able to get 30 eggs from our 31 mature follicles on egg retrieval day. 20 of those were fertilized and 11 of those embryos survived. We had the 11 sent off for genetics testing and of the 11 sent we had 6 that survived and are healthy. We have 4 boys and 2 girls. We chose what gender we wanted and a few weeks after the egg retrieval surgery we had one egg transferred into my wife. With so much emotional and financial stress we can finally share some happy news. We are PREGNANT!!!!!

Update: Hey y’all! I haven’t posted in months as we’ve been growing our IVF baby. It’s a BOY 💙 His name will be River and our due date is February 18, 2023. Momma and baby are doing great.

Update: We won’t be making it to our due date with River. We get INDUCED on Sunday February 12th at 5pm. Soooo excited to meet our son. 👣

We are 38 weeks, 2 days today! 🤰🏻
