While Hurricane Henri itself ended up moving east and sparing all of the Jersey Shore from tropical storm conditions, a trough over our region interacted with Henri and brought catastrophic rainfall totals to parts of the state, particularly Janesburg and Monroe in Middlesex County. Henri’s remnants are still causing rainfall totals to increase this morning, but it the rain associated with the storm is on its way out finally. This shows once again that a storm doesn’t need to hit, or in this case even come all that relatively close to the coast to cause problems.
