The Bunce Family Benefit
June 1, 2025, 3-9 Gaelic Park
6119 147th St, Oak Forest, IL 60452
NEXT MEETING-Tues, Feb 4th, 7pm, Longford Pub-13815 Cicero Ave, Crestwood

Nancy Bunce & her family need our help. They've lived through an incredibly tough time.
Nancy (Moyvane, Co. Kerry) & late husband Liam, (Ballylongford, Co. Kerry) came to Chicago in 1988 in search of a better life.
November, 2019- Liam passes suddenly, leaving Nancy to support their four children. Later that year, their family home was lost.
Nancy works tirelessly to provide for her family. She is a professional care-giver, works side gigs as a seamstress & anything/everything else that brings in a few dollars.
Despite this, the burden of debt hasn't been relieved.
Now, Nancy is currently facing multiple medical issues. We all know how devastating those medical bills are.
Nancy & her children are living in rented accommodation in Oak Lawn. Surging rent is unsustainable, and they struggle to cover their monthly bills.
Nancy is a cherished member of St. Gerald's Parish (Oak Lawn) & our Irish Community.
She is always giving to everyone-volunteering her time & talents for over 30 years.
Nancy has ALWAYS been there for others. Now is the time to be there for her.
We ask everyone who knows Nancy & her family to come together in this time of need.
Please join us in offering your support, whether through donations, attendance, or spreading the word. Together, we can help lift Nancy and her family through this challenging time

Two of my fav gentlemen! Tom Dolan & Willie Joe Casey. Here today to promote the Bunce benefit AND a passion project! Gaelic Park is installing a permanent exhibit focused on celebrating pre-Gaelic Park GAA teams. These clubs found ways to keep the Gaelic Games alive in Chicago BEFORE there were dedicated pitches! It required a great deal of creativity, time, & effort-and Gaelic Park wants to acknowledge & appreciate you! if you have memorabilia, esp jerseys, photos, etc, etc, please contact one of these two.

We enjoyed visiting with Sean Murray, journalist for The Irish Examiner and award winning author of "The Last Disco". The book chronicles the long journey of the Stardust Ballroom victims, their family & friends. From the tragedy in 1981, to the courtroom in 2024, Sean helped shine a light on the unresolved questions and pain this catastrophe created. Ultimately, because of the work he did, the investigation was brought back into focus & all the victims & their loved ones finally received the answers & verdict they so deserved.
Sean is now working on a new project. He is looking for the stories of undocumented Irish in this country. There are many goals of this project. One is to keep the Irish in Ireland informed as to the real day-to-day life of the undocumented. The challenges, the fears, the terror of losing your family-so much more.
If you know someone that might be interested in sharing their story, please reach out to Sean. Complete anonymity and confidentiality are guaranteed. Your story can help make the difference in policy, in understanding, and the way forward. Here is his email address:
