Leave the world behind review
A family vacation in Long Island is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a blackout. As the threat grows, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis.

Let me start by saying I have never been an fan of original Netflix films. The films has always felt like they were glorified Walmart $5 bin castoffs. Leave the World Behind has changed my perspective.

The entire cast delivers A+ performances. The veterans Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawk, Kevin Bacon, and mahershala Ali are fantastic. In addition, new comers Farrah McKenzie, Myha'la Herrold, and Charlie Evans all deliver memorable performances

Composer Mac Quayle delivers a film score that is the heartbeat of the film. Rarely does a composers score take me out of the film to appreciate whats being heard. I found myself distracted by the sheer brilliance of every note played. The score elevates intensity as the films plot progresses forward. Mac Quayle's score is reminiscent of James Howard Norton's score from M.night shyamalan's Signs.

Lastly, Director Sam Email does a phoemenal job with the ensemble cast. In the wrong hands this film could have been an absolute mess.

Leave the world behind had digging my fingers into my sofa cushions. I never once felt at ease. Throughout the run time the characters are clueless about what may be happening, and so are the viewers. I didn't know to expect as the cause for the chaos Aliens, gnomes, Zombie Sharks? This film functions on a less is more;until we get a reveal. The viewers receive tid bits of information as the characters do.In one scene a pack of deers start circling a character. The scene is chilling, and we have no explanation why it happened until later in the film.I could not stop thinking about Leave the world behind. It feels like a possibility, and it's terrifying. Our country is divided, and our country's global influence is waning. These fears are addressed in a topical manner without being preaching. Leave the World Behind stays with you after the credits roll. This might be the best film of the yearA+

SAW X REVIEW
In a quest to cure his cancer, John Kramer (Tobin Bell) heads to Mexico for an experimental procedure, only to find out it's a scam. Saw X unfolds between the events of Saw 1 and Saw 2. The tenth installment of the series brings back veteran collaborators; Director Kevin Greutert and writer Josh Stolhlberg. Spoiler! This tactic by Lionsgate was a wise decision as SAW X manages to be one of the best entries in the series.

Tobin Bell steals every frame by delivering his best John Kramer performance yet! Bell's portrayal displays the softer side of his character's suffering. He makes Kramer feel relatable, and makes his actions later in the series more impactful.Bell' performance is award worthy.

Equally child actorJorge Briseño impressively portrays Carlos. Briseño's performance is impactful to the story, and elevates all the actors he works alongside.I usually complain about child actors being nothing more than annoying set dressing;I'm happy to say this isn't the case.Briseño is talented, and has a bright future in Hollywood.

Synnove Macody plays the reprehensible Dr. Cecilia Pederson. Macody delivers a performance that exudes insincerity, and egomaniacal behavior. Dr.Pederson makes Kramer come across as a Wonderful and innocent person by comparison.

The traps are creative, but lack the theatricality of the previous films, leaving a sense of something missing. While the lack of theatricality is explained, I couldn't help myself longing for the overtop presentations of previous entries.

Saw X dives deep into John Kramer's emotional complexity, and Briseño's emotional performance as Carlos adds a memorable touch.Futhermore,Synnove Macody as Dr.Pederson adds a strong villain to the series. One which has not been seen since Donnie Wahlberg's Agent Mathews. The end credit sequence is reminiscent of the glory days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. SAW X takes the franchse to a new direction while still maintaining what made the series a horror mainstay. .SAW X is a must see masterpiece! 10/10

The boogeyman review

Sadie and her sister Sawyer are grieving their mothers recent death. They face more trouble when a patient of their therapist father brings a supernatural entity into their lives.

David Dastmalchian(The su***de squad)gives a scene stealing performance as patient Lester seeking grief counseling. David's performance feels unpredictable, and too good to be in this film. The performance David delivers as Lester is the equivalent of Killing a spider with a RPG.

Vivien Lyra Blair gives a good performance as the little sister. Typically little children in films tend to serve as the whiny background charecter. Actress Vivien breaks the mold by delievering a pleasant performance. As for the rest of the cast. Not much can be said. Sophie Thatcher plays the brooding typical teenager;Chris Messina plays the father who fails to listen to his children.

I have always been afraid of the dark. Not so much the darkness itself, but the possibility of what lingers in the darkness. Fredrick Nietzsche once said “If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you”. Keep in mind I'm using this incorrectly; while Nietzsche's quote dealt with not becoming the evil you see. The quote is still applicable. The boogeyman deals with the psychological torment of what lingers in the dark in a beautiful way. The film manages to capture the crippling fear of what lingers in the corners of our home when we turn off the lights. In addition ,The Boogeyman personifies what the fear can be.

The scares are efficiently used throughout the runtime. The tension is nail biting. The boogeyman man had me gnawing at my fingers. The creature design is magnificent. The creature is not only terrifying, but visually complex. The creature is reminiscent of the monster in David Buckner's The ritual(a gem on Netflix). Boogeyman director Rob Savage could have easily phoned it in with a Stranger Things inspired monster,or a man in a cheap plastic suit. The monster is a beautifully frightening, and needs a film to explore it's origins.

The Boogeyman is a wonderful new entry in the horror genre that manages to stand out in a sea of endless sequels10/10

"Dark Skies review (2013)

Directed by Scott Stewart
Starring Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo (as Jesse), and Kadan Rocket (as Sam)

With a title like 'Dark Skies,' you might anticipate a supernatural thriller or perhaps a sci-fi spectacle. But rest assured, 'Dark Skies' is a different beast altogether.

Plot:
In 'Dark Skies,' the Barrett family finds themselves plunged into a series of inexplicable and eerie events inside their own home. Gradually, the Barretts start suspecting that they might be targeted by extraterrestrials.

Let me start by commending the young actors in 'Dark Skies.' Are the children annoying? Undoubtedly! Ordinarily, this might be a turn-off, but surprisingly, it serves to drive the plot forward. Writer-director Scott Stewart delivers a masterclass in the slow and steady build of tension and anxiety.

While 'Dark Skies' is not a high-octane thriller, it never feels like a tiresome slog. As the narrative unfolds, we piece together the puzzle of why this family is being singled out, culminating in a riveting climax reminiscent of 'Signs' and 'The Fourth Kind.'

'Dark Skies' makes a solid mark in the alien invasion genre, carving out its niche. This film lingers in your thoughts long after the credits roll, earning it a well-deserved rating of A.

And here's a bonus: you can catch 'Dark Skies' for free on YouTube with ads."

REVIEW

In 1987, Father Gabriele Amorth, an exorcist, visits an Italian residence where a child appears to be possessed by a powerful demon.

The standout performance by Russell Crowe as Father Gabriel is remarkable. Crowe adeptly navigates Father Gabriel's personal and literal demons, delivering an exceptional portrayal.

Peter DeSouza-Feighoney accomplishes a rare feat by convincingly portraying the demon-possessed victim, Henry. His seamless transition from a calm demeanor to an animalistic one is impressive.

Daniel Zovatto adds a cheerful touch to the film as Priest Pere, bringing a sense of levity to the intense subject matter.

While "The Pope's Exorcist" follows a somewhat predictable storyline throughout its 1 hour and 43-minute runtime, it manages to be an enjoyable and engaging experience. The captivating backstory and Father Gabriel's internal struggles captivate the audience, and the well-executed scares contribute to the film's appeal.

Overall"The Pope's Exorcist" offers a blend of predictability and entertainment;a film any horror fan will at the least enjoy. The movie can now be streamed on Netflix. C+

Greenland 2020
Directed Ric Roman Waugh
Starring
Gerard Butler
Morena Baccarin
With a name like Greenland you would imagine this film to a romantic comedy, or a film about a person's self discovery;rest assured GREENLAND is none of the above.

Plot
A family embarks on a perilous journey to find refuge from a planet-threatening comet hurtling toward Earth. As the global apocalypse looms, their desperate trek culminates in a last-minute flight to a potential safe haven.
Throughout Greenlands 1 hour 59 minute runtime I felt a variety emotions ranging from stressed out to extremely stressed out. Greenland's cast always hits emotional ques, and never fails to propel the plot forward. Unlike other disaster films, namely anything by king of disaster cinema Roland Emrich;Greenland manges to avoid the typical disaster film cliches. During the runtime,I attempted to predict where the films direction was headed due to my experience with previous related films, and I was pleasantly surprised. While Greenland does have the thrills of other disaster classics such as Deep impact, &2012;the film manages to create its own identity in the bloated landscape of disaster epics. I was unaware of this film due to poor marketing, and many other audiences were as well as it wasnt a boxoffice hit it deserves to be. Greenland is an unforgettable ride, and is an absolute journey to endure. Greenland might be the best diaster movie to date 10/10

Blood Vessel (2019) offers a thrilling and unique premise that transports viewers to the harrowing setting of World War II where a group of lifeboat survivors find themselves seeking refuge on a German boat infested with vampires. The entire cast delivers exceptional performances, with Alex Cooke shining as the resilient Russian Tepov ,John Lloyd Fillingham delivering a compelling and cowardly performance as the Englishman faraday, and Troy larkin's scene stealing performance as the head vampire known as The patriarch. In addition, Blood Vessel features a pre Evil dead rise Alyssa Sutherland.

The ensemble cast embodies the spirit of a Call of Duty Zombies game, and the film's setup evokes the atmosphere of a thrilling level from the popular game series. Drawing inspiration from Guillermo del Toro's acclaimed The Strain novels, Blood Vessel presents vampires rooted in Roman lore. Director Justin Dix masterfully incorporates elements from the Strain series, from the master strigoi's formidable abilities to the beautifully decorated coffin. In addition, the film occasionally takes on the qualities of a possession film .

With the effective use of gore and a well-paced plot, Blood Vessel keeps viewers engaged from start to finish. The claustrophobic confines of the ship creates a tense atmosphere, as the refugees navigate the unknown corridors, never knowing what lies ahead. Blood Vessel's 1 hour, and 33 min runtime will have you guessing who's going to die next. No character feels safe, and everyone feels expendable The creature effects are beautifully executed, comparable to the high standards set by The Strain series;and cult classics such as Daybreakers, and Night Flier.

Blood Vessel is a hidden gem that demands your attention on streaming services. Don't miss out on this thrilling cinematic experience. You can watch Blood Vessel on Tubi, and Amazon prime.

Infinity Pool Review

Infinity pool, starring Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth, is a movie that explores the idea of hedonism and the limits of human nature. The premise is intriguing, as it follows a vacationer who is sentenced to death after accidentally killing someone. However, he has the option for an identical clone to take his place. Unfortunately, the movie falls short in ex*****on.

As the film progresses, Skarsgard's character James lives nearly free of consequences as he commits countless crimes, including kidnapping and murder. The only cost he has to pay is to have another identical clone murdered. While Skarsgard is a strong performer, his performance in Infinity pool as James is lackluster, and he seems to be sleepwalking through the role.

Mia Goth's performance as Gabi is equally disappointing. Normally a fantastic actress, Goth fails to deliver a compelling performance and even succeeds at being obnoxious throughout the films runtime.

The concept of the movie is fascinating, but the plot is paper-thin and fails to fully explore the interesting ideas it raises. Infinity pool is the epitome of a film with a great concept, and a poorly written script.

Overall, Infinity pool is a disappointing movie that fails to live up to its potential. My friend Mario Andretty Lopez's assessment of the movie as "not so good" is accurate. Rating F.

Lee Cronin has accomplished the seemingly impossible by delivering another Evil Dead sequel that is perfect. Evil Dead Rise is filled with endless subtle call-backs to Evil Dead 2 and classic nod to Kubrick's The Shining. The title card alone is a testament to the impossibly perfect ex*****on of this film. Fans of the series can expect the gore and horror they crave, but with a change in location from a cabin to a cramped apartment. This new setting creates great tension that leaves the audience at the edge of their seat.

What's most impressive is the way in which Cronin has made us care about the characters in a way that's new to the franchise. The cast, including Alyssa Sutherland, Lilly Sullivan, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and newcomer Neil Fisher, are all fantastic. The familial dynamic between them makes the audience genuinely invested in their survival.

It's worth noting that if Cronin were to be involved in an Evil Dead film set in an insane asylum, it would undoubtedly be gold. Evil Dead Rise might just be the best film of the year, earning a solid A rating

Hey guys, and welcome back to my corner of the internet. Its MRDEATHBREATH,and I'm reviewing SCREAM 6.

Scream 6 is undoubtedly one of the best horror films of the year and a highly impressive addition to the Scream franchise. One of the most noticeable improvements in this film is the more aggressive iteration of Ghostface, which adds a level of intensity and excitement to the kills that is unmatched by previous films in the series.

The cast of Scream 6 delivers an outstanding performance, with each character bringing something unique to the story. The lack of Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott in this film does not detract from the overall quality of the film, and in fact, allows for a more focused and well-rounded story that explores the other characters in greater depth.

The film's plot is well-crafted and keeps the audience on the edge of their seat throughout the entire runtime. The suspenseful nature of the film is amplified by the intriguing mystery surrounding the killer's identity, which kept me guessing until the big reveal.

What sets Scream 6 apart from other horror sequels is its ability to rectify the issues with the previous film, Scream 5, and deliver a highly satisfying and well-executed story.

Overall, Scream 6 is a must-see for horror fans and a testament to the enduring appeal of the Scream franchise. With its exciting kills, outstanding cast, and well-crafted story, this film has become the second-best Scream film in the franchise, and is sure to leave audiences thrilled and satisfied.

Hey guys and welcome back to my corner of the internet. I'm MRDEATHBREATH,and I'm here to complain about... I mean review BLACKPHONE 2021

Let me start off by saying that Ethan Hawke is fantastic in his role as the Grabberr. He brings a level of intensity and complexity to the character that really keeps you on the edge of your seat. The child actors in the film also do a decent job with their performances, particularly with portraying the fear and vulnerability of their characters.

However, I have to say that the film itself is a pretty straightforward abduction movie. While there are some interesting teases of where the plot could have gone, the film ultimately takes a safe route and doesn't really offer anything new or groundbreaking to the genre.

Overall, I would say that Blackphone is mediocre way to waste a couple of hours of your life(you'll never get back), and it's not a film that I would recommend. If you're a fan of the abduction genre and are looking for a relatively straightforward movie with some great performances, then this film may be worth a watch. But if you're looking for something truly innovative or exciting, then you may want to look elsewhere. Rating D

Halloween ends novelisation is better than the film. Here are a few reasons why:

Immediately takes place after the events of HKs; Has a couple fantastic opening kills.

Adds more layers to Corey Cunningham character you really feel his grief, and suffering. You genuinely want to get well.

Explains how Micheal got into the sewers, and implies he ate some of his victims to stay alive.

Gives a back story to the bum under the bridge. The book explains that he was patient next to Michaels cell, and worships him. He worships him to the point the point that he becomes Michaels unofficial caregiver.

Deeper explanation on how Micheals evil can infect minds on the verge of being evil.
Imagine a patient who has evil desires;if near Myers the darkness that consumes Myers desires would take over the individual causing them to lose their humanity.

The books ending goes into deeper explanation on how Micheals presence can still exist beyond him being alive. His mask carries his dark essence which can still infect those suseptible to dark proclivities .

Overall Halloween Ends book is a fantastic read, and makes me appreciate the film. If the book would have been the film, the film would have been received better. People would still hate Halloween Ends ,just a little less.

Have you guys read Halloween ends?
