ach week. Our primary target audience is the motorcycle enthusiasts who ride anything from Cruisers and Trikes to Sport Bikes and Scooters on occasion we throw in Quads & Mud machines too! Basically where you find adventure, you’ll find Thunder Roads© Mid-Atlantic! Thunder Roads© Mid-Atlantic edition, was started by three friends; Steve “Hillbilly” Craig, Mike “Rhino” Ryan, and Mike “Bighead” Abbott. All three are lifelong biker enthusiasts and community advocates. Throughout the years, while on their numerous rides, they would often come across Thunder Roads Magazine in other states. The magazine caught their attention, not just because of the HOT girl on the front, but because of the amount of content and resources made available to its readers. The guys thought it was really a shame there wasn’t anything like this available in the Maryland/Delaware area and they knew just the right people to cure this problem. With that, the guys set out on a path of discovery, with the goal of answering one question “What will our readers look for and enjoy in a publication geared toward the biker enthusiast, business owner, and community?” Through several months the guys went on one voyage after another visiting and interviewing local motorcycle clubs, riding groups, biker bars (and others when thirsty), bike shops, charity rides, trade shows, and a montage of events in search of exactly what do bikers really care about…
After finding what they believe was the answer it didn’t take long for the three friends to partner-together to purchase the Maryland, Delaware, and DC franchise of Thunder Roads Magazine! They set out with a goal of publishing their first issue by September 2012. Through it all the guys and everyone who has joined the crew since have stayed true to one belief, and it’s a mantra we all live and work by, “This magazine belongs to our community of biker enthusiasts and business owners in our area and across the states.” Therefore, every article we publish, every event we host is all in the truest spirit of being a “biker”. Our primary objective is to engage with our readers and social patrons to create a true sense of community! We do this by introducing products, concepts, stores, conversations, and news in 4 major categories
1. Showcase of Products & Resources:
New products, with respect to old school tried & true products, and new/best practices for the classics. Each month we have a comprehensive list of “Biker Friendly” services & locations.
2. The Scene:
Introducing you to new faces & showing off new places in our region & across the country! Invitations to rides, events, and fundraisers on our social calendar will keep you busy and in your favorite spot (in the seat, on the road) all year long!
3. Our Little Community:
This is the area we take a great deal of pride in! Something that makes you think, makes you remember, makes you respect! It’s what all three partners feel and truly believe is the single most important aspect of our publication, regardless of region! Tireless efforts are made each month to show share with our public what the authentic, multi-layered intellectual facets of all (well most) “bikers” and what it is to be a “biker”. We don’t cater to one s*x or the other nor exclude any variation or social affiliation! We introduce stories, interviews, and news we feel is interesting (and hopefully spell-bounding or profound) for both male and female readers & social community followers wherever they are & whoever they are be they war heroes, everyday moms & dads, just plain ole enthusiasts, old folks who can’t scoot any more, community activists, bike club associates, or business owners.
4. Legislature & Hot Topics:
What magazine would be complete without necessary & informative news for the local area? We seek and publish all new laws, regulations, and conversation surrounding those issues and topics. Where There’s Bikes …. There’s THUNDER!!! It used to be, that all bikers shared a common bond, an unspoken code of ethics and behavior. There was never a manual on this Biker’s Code, nothing written to follow; it was always the responsibility of the old scooter brother to school the young. Loyalty, Honor and Respect is the foundation of the “Biker’s Code.” The same holds true with the Thunder Roads Team. Our Team will work with you to develop a relationship that will both Respect and Honor your business plan and image. We will work with you to build a customer base that is Loyal to both our brands. And, we believe our WORD is all we have in life that is truly ours. So we give you our word that we will make every effort to always deliver and never mislead you. Since their 2012 induction the partners have challenged themselves with not only starting a new venture but growing that concept and venture at a vast and rapid pace! With that they have added:
2012 the “Road Crew” Teresa, Tractor; and “Girls of Thunder” G.O.T masterfully lead by “Madame Tory”!
2013 the guys added a newbie to their three mad men operation and introduced you to Catherine “Kitty” Noske. Kitty is responsible for what you see online, face book, twitter, and a ton of “back office” things you don’t ever see!
2013 the guys added Thunder Roads West Virginia! This edition of the magazine is scheduled to publish its first issue in February 2014! In 2016, they expanded the reach of the Thunder Roads Mid-Atlantic
Also coming to life in 2016 will be the “G.O.T. Modeling and Promotions” this group of wild ones will be our traveling girls of pure fun!
