According to Jeff Grubb, FromSoftware is not working on a Bloodborne remaster. Grubb states that FromSoftware is focused on Elden Ring, their biggest game. Grubb also alluded to the possibility that an Elden Ring DLC is also in the works. Another reason the remaster is not in the works is because the Bloodborne code is a mess and handing off the project to another studio would still require heavy involvement from FromSoftware to walk them through it. Grubb ended his point by stating the Sony owned IP could still get a remaster a couple years down the line.

Andrew Wilson, the CEO of Electronic Arts spoke out on the poor performance of the last two Battlefield games during a Goldman Sachs conference last week. Wilson says there’s a lot the company has to do, the IP at it’s core is amazing and they just need the right team to grow the franchise.

Wilson also believes that if Call of Duty becomes an Xbox exclusive, that it will benefit the Battlefield franchise as a “tremendous opportunity”.

43 minutes worth of Diablo IV test footage has leaked online showing off combat, quests, the map and classes. The gameplay footage was streamed on a private Discord server from an early test build of the game, likely related to Blizzard’s “friends and family” alpha test. The recorded videos are extremely watermarked so it should be easy for Blizzard to get to the bottom of it. From what we saw,

• The game looks awesome but clearly isn’t finished because some of the environment textures were missing.
• The open-world looks expansive and dynamically generates as the player explores.
• The combat looks impressive and pretty polished as the player fights multiple opponents at once.
• The player was using a Barbarian class while they completed quests - showing their powerful abilities and the class skill tree.
• The shop contained many items that players can buy with real-life currency including Sunken Treasures, Brackish Fetch, Heir to the Sea, Tols of the Sea, Raised by Wolves and The Lion of Arreat.

A massive amount of Grand Theft Auto 6 screenshots, videos, developer footage, source code and dialogue have leaked online (from a 2019-2021 test build), making this one of Rockstars’ worst ever security breaches. A known hacker that goes by the username of “teapotuberhacker” (who recently hacked Uber) somehow got access to Rockstars internal Slack channels and was able to extract tons of seemingly legitimate data from their systems. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier chimed in about the leak saying “Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course”.

*Spoilers Below*

The leaks show both female and male main characters in various settings and performing different actions (standing, shooting, running, and talking). The longest clips include the female character going through the Vice City strip club and robbing a store/shooting at the cops (even while in a car). We also saw a clip of the male main character walking through the “Vice City Metro” and various other clips showing off the Miami-inspired environment and NPC interactions.

The gameplay clearly looks like Rockstar’s work, and includes brands from previous GTA titles like Redwood Ci******es, LTD Gasoline and LifeInvader.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer briefly discussed the future of Xbox. Some of the major points from the discussion include,

• Microsoft is incredibly happy with the position of the Xbox Series S in the market, where more than half of their new players are coming through that. He also confirmed that Microsoft have no plans (at least for now) to increase the price of their Xbox Series consoles.
• Despite the pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which is being slightly held up by European regulators, Xbox is still fielding acquisition and partnership opportunities because they want to be “a major player” in the industry.

Elden Ring has been awarded ‘Game of the Year’ honours at the Japan Game Awards as part of the Tokyo Game Show. FromSoftware’s fantasy action-RPG has sold nearly 17 million copies worldwide since its February 25th release date while bolstering a 94 MetaCritic score and a 95 OpenCritic rating. It is Bandai Namco’s fastest-selling game of all time.

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki accepted the award and said “Elden Ring is a completely different worldview (for us) […] we’ve been supported so heavily by all our players. I would really like to express my appreciation to everyone who follows us”.

Despite some major titles (and GOTY contenders) still set to release in 2022 (God of War Ragnarok, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Gotham Knights, The Callisto Protocol etc.), some of the major games Elden Ring beat out included PokĂŠmon Legends: Arceus (2022) , Horizon Forbidden West (2022), Resident Evil Village (2021), Tales of Arise (2021) and Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker (2021).

Note: The date range for the event show is following their most recent fiscal year, ranging from April 2021 to March 2022.

The iconic N64 shooter “GoldenEye 007” is being re-released on both the Nintendo Switch and Xbox (via Game Pass), but each console is receiving a very different version. The Nintendo Switch release is a direct emulated version of the N64 game (part of their online service) that features online multiplayer. On the other side, the Xbox remaster is a “recreated” HD version that includes achievements, 4K resolution, improved control options, and a smoother framerate - BUT doesn’t include online multiplayer (only split-screen local multiplayer).

Rare has also confirmed that this is not the same version of the game that was cancelled for the Xbox360.

We’re honoured to have had the chance to chat with , the voice and personality behind crime fighting vigilante Nightwing (Dick Grayson) from the upcoming game Gotham Knights. It was short and sweet, but he gave us a nice glimpse into what it’s like being a voice actor for video games, including the ability to inject his own personality into the roles and characters.

Additionally, he focused on Nightwing saving the world from Mr Freeze and Harley Quinn - two of the nine confirmed (so far) villains in Gotham Knights, which may just be two of the biggest and most difficult to defeat 👀

Ever since Microsoft announced their intentions to buy Activision Blizzard, everyone has been up in arms about what’s going to happen with Call of Duty. Xbox head Phil Spencer has publicly stated multiple times that they intend to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation well beyond the current agreement. Microsoft even accused Sony of paying developers to keep games off competing platforms/services while also committing to making gaming more accessible to everyone.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan hit back by saying,

“Microsoft has only offered for Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends […] After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers. We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft’s proposal undermines this principle.”

The studio believes it is important to have a balanced and healthy work cycle and to not release broken experiences to meet deadlines. Therefore, working far beyond the normal working hours was not an option for them.

Opinion: Say what you want about the initial reveal of Deadrop but the studio really seems to care about the employees and the product they’re releasing.

Reputable leaker Oops Leak has reluctantly shared more information about the next BioShock game. The game has been confirmed to be in development at Cloud Chamber (a studio founded by 2k and Take-Two) since at least 2019. Out of all the information he has, which he said to take with a grain of salt, the following is what he believes to be true,

• It’s an open-world game set in Antarctica.
• The lead character might be a female protagonist, and some characters from the previous BioShock games could return in one form or another.
• The storyline will feature multiple endings themed around various states of water (solid, liquid, and gas) - with side quests helping flesh out the details and differences.
• The aesthetic style (art and graphic design) is similar to/inspired by Deathloop and has “1960s The British Invasion and counterculture vibes, style is psychedelic and trippy”.
• It’s bigger than any other BioShock game, with an advanced combat system focused on diversity and the combination of abilities.
• Destructible environments will play a very important role.
• The game won’t likely be released before 2024, and thinks it’ll be revealed to some capacity at an event held by Geoff Keighley.
• They’re trying to finish the development as soon as possible, but are concerned about a delivering a great final product. They’re not reinventing the wheel and it looks/feels/plays like a BioShock game.

Some information that he can’t fully corroborate the validity of.
• The narrative is built around refugees.
• There are two cities, the Upper Borealis and the Lower One, Aurora.
• The goal of the storyline is to unite the two cities.

05/09/2022

Bloober Team (the studio behind The Medium, Blair Witch and Layers of Fear) is reportedly working on a Silent Hill 2 Remake for Konami, and sources suggest it’s planned to be a PlayStation 5 timed console exclusive, but also available on PC. The remake will supposedly have two new endings with reworked puzzles and AI.
Images from the studios pitch deck have surfaced online (featuring main character James Sunderland) and even though they’re pre-production renders from 2018, they’ve been corroborated by multiple reputable sources as official.

Bloober Team has been linked with Konami and the Silent Hill franchise ever since they announced their “strategic co-operation agreement” with Konami almost 2 years ago. Rumours got even stronger when their CEO said the studio was working on a existing horror IP from a “very famous publisher”.
