1) Name a movie where we see two characters meet, fall in love, and have a healthy relationship. It must happen all in the same movie. ("Up" is a good example.)

2) Name a *sci-fi* or *fantasy* movie where this happens.

Want to know why a movie like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" isn't nominated for Best Picture and a movie like "The Power of the Dog" is?

Victimhood due to prejudice or bigotry permeates almost all of the Oscar nominees. Of those, only a few show scenarios that actually overcome and succeed despite those obstacles.

If you want to know why no one cares about the Academy Awards, this predictable pattern of annual self-flagellation is one reason. The constant emphasis of pain, guilt, shame, and penance can only be described as a religious exercise.

Salvation will never come so long as there are those who continue to suffer. The suffering of the past is made into the suffering of the present, and the suffering of the present is made equal to the suffering of the past. Therefore, salvation is impossible.

Joy and fun are hedonistic, while misanthropy and cynicism are encouraged to be the only lenses through which we view the present, the past, and reality in general. Nothing is more important than accounting for all the possible ways that the various gradations and hierarchies of privilege contribute to the damage of any and all aspects of human existence. As such, is it no surprise that even our fantasies can no longer provide escape from such gloom?
