We have noticed in the last years how the media world has conveyed a very specific idea of human body, especially regarding women body. Thanks to electronic tool such as Adobe Photoshop, it is nowadays very common that a professional photo representing a woman in a website, a magazine or another media has been re-shaped virtually and artificially. The photo may been modified for the purpose to mak
e the body fits to arbitrary attractiveness criteria which do not correspond to any reality. Other common numerical effects aim at smoothing the skin and remove any “imperfection” such as grains, beauty spot etc. These false images of body presented as “perfect” may be harmful for influenced watchers. Scientific studies have warned the authorities about health side effects and some countries decided to take action such as UK who have legislated, or are about to, like France. Famous actress, models, journalists… many have stand against this trend. Still, it does not mean that all modifications made on a photo or a magazine cover aim at “perfecting” human bodies. The problematic risen is then to identify when a modification of a picture representing a human body becomes an intention of perfecting artificially a body, with a result which does not stand for any reality. This is where we step in: we can grant an “untouched image” certification. Our technology allows distinguishing modifications required for the needs of a magazine (or website, photographer…) such as contrast modifications, collage or light alterations, from modification of the physical aspect of the person.
