"Another foray into strange future lands with Fading Tapes.

Progressing with more urgency than the Cartographer, Rites Of Passage finds Fading Tapes nearer and perhaps sharper than we left them, having disembarked their craft, but still on the same terrain of some faraway planet. Shifting from the slow journey the cartographer took, we are taken into the native rites with sounds folk-like in their minimalism and simplicity, but reminiscent of something eerily distant in future time. Sparse percussion forms the pulse of the ceremony, as whistles and less identifiable sounds weave through and over droning amplified strings and effects. The remnants of some post-apocalyptic culture so far removed from the catastrophe that the relics of their past exist only as cyclopean ruins and talismans."

New release klaxon! fantastic atmospheric psych ambient from Fading Tapes inbound for August!

"A journey into uncharted territories with Fading Tapes.

The Cartographer uses sparse percussion to propel us on our journey through cinematic soundscapes conjured from swells of effects, guitars, and vocals. There is a sense of unfolding space throughout the tracks, as we glide across deserted landscapes charting abandoned remains and artefacts as they appear through the haze. Notes echo out seemingly endlessly and blend with intonations, whistles and sounds less discernible as the minimal drum work provides a sense of motion, as if staring out of the window of a strange craft in unfamiliar terrain, as time stretches with the landscape. Cartographer would be well at home as the soundtrack of some lost sci-fi art film, accompanying slow long shots of distant zones.

Fading Tapes is the Polish duo of Krzysztof Siwkowski and Marcin Lasek, this time with Aleksandra for additional vocal textures. Based around guitar and drums they conjure minimal psychedelic soundscapes."
