PRAIRYERTH: NEW EARTHS, NEW THEMES EXPECT US

The PrairyErth project is in honor of renowned US author William Least Heat-Moon and his brilliant literary report 'PrairyErth (a deep map)'. As a fine art photographic documentary, it is about—and aims to be a social, cultural and economic contribution to—Chase County in Kansas, USA. The magnificent, subtly beautiful Flint Hills that encompass Chase C

ounty are home to one of the last few stretches of original prairie. The prairie offers great inspiration for restoring the land to its original grandeur, and the present-day prairie communities sprout more and more fine initiatives of loving, gracious stewardship and active, grassroots-up leadership. Through PrairyErth, I intend to show these wonderful qualities as an inspiration to many to restore, revive and cherish our world at large. As for myself, I have fallen in love with the Flint Hills through reading Heat-Moon’s PrairyErth and through my reconnaissance visits to the area. I live in The Netherlands, Europe and travel to east-central Kansas whenever I can to soak in the land, meet wonderful people and work on my 'PrairyErth: New Earths, New Themes Expect Us'.
