Earth Is Home Welcome to 'Earth Is Home', where I hope to share my passion and love for the natural world. Spending time outdoors even makes us smarter too!

Earth Is Home celebrates the beauty and wonder of planet Earth, and invites you to develop a deeper and richer connection with the natural world in your own life. To be alive on the planet today is to be a part of a great evolutionary and cosmic tale that begins 4.6 billion years ago with the birth of our solar system and Earth. Earth was a tumultuous heaving mass of rock and fire, hostile to life

. Yet here we are now, floating through space, on a planet of boundless beauty, part of an intricate web of life that includes billions, maybe even trillions of other species! LET'S CONNECT WITH THE WILD...
Here at Earth Is Home I will share my journey, as I seek a deeper connection with nature and explore the unfolding relationship between people and planet. Most importantly, I hope to share great content and new ideas that will inspire you to more fully enjoy the gifts of nature in your life, whether that be around your own home, at a local park, or somewhere a little more wild. HAPPY IN NATURE...
Did you know that being closer to nature makes us healthier, happier and even live longer? So I hope to share more about the science of nature connection, along with ways we can include nature in our lives for healing and wellbeing. HEALING THE PLANET...
And let's not forget the elephant in the room. Human society is responsible for a massive amount of destruction across the planet. Our presence and impact has been felt by every species and ecosystem and now we are facing a multitude of global environmental crises. Our success and domination as a species could be our biggest weakness, and lead to our ultimate downfall. So how can we chart a new course, one where people and planet thrive together? I'd like to explore how we can begin living in balance with the planet and repairing the damage we've done. Your feedback is welcome...
Let me know what you think of Earth Is Home, including any ideas you might have for other FaceBook content, or ways we can help one another to more deeply connect with nature and our planet.

The STUNNING Variable Poison Frog! 🐸🥰
One of the most beautiful Dart Frogs in South America, Ranitomeya variabilis lives up to its name and has many colourforms throughout its range on the continent! 🎨

But thats not the only interesting thing about them...
Did you know, their tadpoles can be CANNIBALS!? 😱
They will often feed on other tadpoles and frog eggs in the same phytotelma (plant cavity with water) as them, with male frogs sometimes transporting them to areas already with frog eggs for them to feast on!
Nature hey! 😳

May the flowers that glow and the mountains that stretch out into the sky remind you of just how wonderful this Earth is...

This is a sad story :(

If you’ve noticed fewer lightning bugs glowing across Florida yards and wetlands on summer nights, you’re not imagining it. Across the Southeast, people have been saying the same thing, and scientists say firefly populations are facing real pressure.
In parts of the United States, nearly one-third of firefly species may now be at risk. Development, disappearing wetlands, manicured lawns, and artificial light at night are major reasons. Fireflies need dark skies, moist soil, tall grass, and natural vegetation to complete their life cycle. Pesticides can also harm them while they’re still living underground as larvae.
Florida once had humid summer nights where fields, ditches, and marsh edges flickered with tiny green lights. In many places those displays are becoming rarer as neighborhoods grow and outdoor lighting gets brighter.
And it’s not just lightning bugs. Across North America, scientists are documenting wider insect declines tied to habitat loss, chemicals, pollution, and climate change. Insects are the base of the food chain, feeding birds, fish, frogs, and wildlife while also pollinating plants.
Those glowing summer evenings people remember weren’t just nostalgia — they were signs of a healthy ecosystem.
The good news is fireflies can recover if their habitat is protected.
Leaving some areas of the yard wild, reducing pesticides, protecting wetlands, and turning down outdoor lights at night can help bring some of that quiet summer glow back to Florida. ✨

I’ve only visited Uluru a couple of times, but each visit has stayed with me. I’ve filled sketchbooks, taken countless photos, and still carry vivid images in my mind as I continue to paint it.

It’s a truly magical place—deeply inspiring, grounding me in the earth and in the beauty of Australia, a country I feel so grateful to call home.

A land cared for and nourished for thousands of years by our First Nations peoples.

One of my paintings ‘Uluru Starry Night’ sold recently -my grateful thanks to the buyer I had the privilege of meeting
