yesterday was my two year wedding anniversary! honestly, with the amount of life we’ve lived in the last two years it feels like too small of a number. but I am beyond thankful to be married to such a gentle, loving, and supportive man. wouldn’t want to do all this with anybody else!

love you, JP ❤️

here are just a couple highlights from the last year, and some favorite wedding photos because I’ve never shared any here!

p.s., can you identify our Halloween costume from last year?? 🧑🏻‍🦱🌳🎨

september recap 🌻 (ps if you’ve seen me repost this multiple times no you didn’t 🤪 Instagram is being a p**p)

this is my favorite month of the year for many reasons. this year in particular it was restful and lovely! the weather was delightful, and I had some really fun things to be excited about, namely:

- 10 nights of prayer at church
- celebrating my 25th birthday with friends🎊
- time with my mom 💖
- total surprise birthday gift from my husband and brother (Nintendo DS with a nostalgic game I used to play!!!!) 🎧

feeling thankful for such a nice end to the summer, and actually excited about fall for once in my life ☺️

“Desire vs Capacity: Intro to Series”
New blog is live - and I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while! So long, in fact, that I’ve realized I have a lot more to say than what will fit in one post 🤭

In this week’s blog I’m introducing a new series about burnout and its root issue, which I’ve often found to be the inability to accept the gap between our desires (to say “yes” to things) and our capacity.

Looking forward to sharing my thoughts on this over the next few weeks! If you want to read or listen along, click the link in my bio and navigate to the top of the “Blog” page 🌸

stroller walk views 🏠✨🌿

one of the most unexpected delights about my current nannying job is the beautiful neighborhood I get to walk in. it’s nestled in the middle of a historic district, and ends with a lovely shaded park. most of the homes along the way are either 100+ years old and beautifully restored or elaborate tear-downs 🤩

feels like my own personal residential architecture walk every week 🥰

Confession: I do a lot more sewing projects in my mind than I actually do in real life 🫣

But this is one that finally made it out of my head! I really do love to sew, but I tend to spend a lot more time planning projects and never actually executing them 😂

This is a revamp of one of my husband’s button-up shirts that was in the donation pile. I loved the print, and thought it was a good opportunity to try a flip that I saw online!

It’s definitely not perfect, and I learned a lot; but for figuring it out with no pattern, I’m pretty happy with it 🪡

📖 Book Review 📖
I really enjoyed this heart-tugging read about redemption and hope! It’s about a man coming to terms with his past and learning to embrace life again through a little girl he meets selling lemonade on the street 🍋

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one is easy to rate, because it’s very clean! I found the writing style a bit challenging to get used to, but that may have been better in physical form instead of audio. Otherwise, it was wonderful!

Narrator: 👍🏻
The audiobook narrator was good - not much to complain about, but not much to directly praise either 🤷🏻‍♀️ good enough to not distract me!

“Tricking Myself Into Being Productive”

This week’s blog is up! It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me, but keeping up with regular life stuff never stops.

It can be really challenging to get yourself moving on things that need to be done when you’ve got a lot on your list… and my ADHD brain is more harmful than helpful in this matter 🤪

How can we stop relying on motivation to stir up and push us to action? To read or listen to my thoughts on this, and some practical ways to keep moving when your brain fights against helpful productivity, click the link in my bio and navigate to the “Blog” page 🌸

This was a beautiful novel full of nostalgia and reflection ☁️✨🌼

It’s set during the first summer of the 2020 pandemic, but thankfully that wasn’t the main focus of the storyline. Instead, it creates a backdrop for the family dynamics as a mom (narrator) paints a nostalgic picture of her past with her three adult daughters on their cherry farm in Michigan 🍒

It lost a star because the language use and spiciness were both close to the line of uncomfortable for me. But the couple of scenes that made me squirm a bit were fairly close to the end, and at that point I just finished it up.

📢 I’ll also give you a trigger warning for mention of ab*rtion, although it’s extremely brief and wayyy toward the end. I didn’t love that the author made a point of emphasizing her pro-choice standing there, which felt a little forced and inconsistent with the rest of the novel (not to mention the fact that it generally made me sad).

Despite the little bit of ick, the prose was soooo lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed the reflective nature of it 🦋 If I say anything more, I’m at risk of spoiling - but if you’re curious to know further details about the warnings, DM me and I’ll tell you as much as you want to know! 🫶🏻

Lastly, Meryl Streep was FANTASTIC as a narrator!! Can’t sing her praises enough for really acting it out with her inflections and character voice variety. Highly recommend the audiobook 🎧, if you plan to read it!

Hi! I’m Elena, and I’m the voice behind this blog. I thought I’d share a little about me (since I’m the one writing what you’ll be reading), so here are a few basic facts to know:

1. I’m a follower of Christ!
2. I am 24 years old
3. My husband and I live in the western suburbs of Chicago
4. I currently work as a nanny part-time and spend the rest of my time “keeping house” (as the older folks would say)
5. I have ADHD and have been unmedicated for nearly a decade
6. I look forward to being a stay at home mom one day, when we have children of our own

Of course, there is SO much more I could share! Follow the link to the "About" page on my website to read more about my life, passions, and purpose for writing: https://wavyladylife.com/about-me/

Howdy-doo, neighbor! Welcome to Wavy Lady Life. If you’re looking for a place to find raw, honest musings about life, you’ve found it! This blog is written by a sensitive, emotional, and creative Christian with ADHD… and I have lots of thoughts to share :)

Life can make us feel wavy - at the mercy of the unexpected comings and goings of our emotional tides. And when we feel that way, it can be hard to know how to express what we truly think or feel about what we experience. But that’s when it’s often most important to share, so we can feel more deeply seen and understood by the people closest to us - the way that God deeply sees and understands us as we really are. So join me as I share my wavy lady life as transparently and honestly as I can! Who knows, maybe it will help you find the words to describe your own waves.
