Partner-supported birth is POWERFUL. We love when dads aren't afraid the get in the tub! Look at this baba helping his baby as they emerge earthside 😍 We have several episodes on Homecoming Podcast that discuss how fathers play a huge role in birth. Our most recent is Shayla Brown whose husband supported the birth of their 4th baby at home unassisted. *Link in Bio*

From • @midwifeangelina Second birth of the weekend. We waited for a moment after the head came out for the next contraction. Many times baby will come out a bit stunned when they wait. Yet with stimulation and sometimes a little extra respirations, baby will quickly turn around. This mom and dad did great. Congratulations family. @a_tru_naturalbeauty #homebirth #blackwomendohomebirth #naturalbirth #waterbirth #midwife #midwifeangelina #touchofosun

In this latest episode of Homecoming, Nicole Deggins, CNM aka Sista Midwife drops so many gems including some of the realities of giving birth in the hospital. In this clip, Nicole explains why it's so important to cultivate open communication with your birth team. This should happen prenatally of course but especially when you show up at the hospital to give birth. A piece of paper with your birth plan on it holds no power on its own. Partners, we need you to advocate for us when we cannot advocate for ourselves! #homecomingpodcast #birthistherevolution
Beyond excited to share a preview of our upcoming episode featuring Tayo Mbande of @chicagobirthworksco Tayo reframes unassisted birth and instead describes the birth of her 3rd baby as a family birth. Her husband, mother, and birth village were there to support her ♥️ #blacklivesmatter #unassistedbirth #familybirth #blackhomebirth
*Latest Episode Now Playing* "Home is like so important to us, right. Our home is in our community our home is our personal space--like I love doing home visits after a birth because I can kind of tell what the people are like. And I think that there's no better opportunity to have a baby than to have it within a sacred space, right. When we chose to have Ahimsa at home, it was like really a no-brainer. I'm still surprised my husband was like, 'cool. If you're cool with it, I'm cool with it.'" #welcomehome #blackhomebirth #homecomingpodcast

In this new episode of #homecomingpodcast Nuola answers, @chaethesupreme 's question, "Why did you have a home birth?!" especially after already experiencing devastating loss. Like many of us, including Brittany from S1, Ep8, Nuola was also inspired by this groundbreaking documentary that illustrates the relationship between medical interventions and poor outcomes and that medicalized birth is a BIG BUSINESS that profits off of our bodies. Nuola realized that having a midwife guide and support her first pregnancies may have changed her initial experiences of birth--maybe even the outcome.

If you've already experienced our Co-host Chae @chaethesupreme , then you know that this mutha/goddess is PROFOUND! This was one of my favorite moments from our recent episode. PREVIEW: @nuolamama Nuola's story is so powerful because she talks about feeling disempowered and betrayed by the very medical providers that she trusted with providing competent and appropriate care during her first two pregnancies. In this preview clip, Nuola describes how her doctor made decisions based on her age, education level and unmarried status to determine that ending her pregnancy was probably for the best. She believes that the doctor felt like he was "doing her a favor" by encouraging her to end her unplanned but wanted pregnancy. This and other experiences led to her ultimately having a home birth. Home birth created an empowered, family-centered space where Nuola felt safe, nurtured, and cared for 💕
**A snippet of SEASON 2, EPISODE 1 - Isis' Birth Story** One of the best things about my birth was all of the people who were there to support me including my big sister @artesiakabore Birth really does happen in Divine timing because we weren't planning for her to be there for my home birth but she was! In this case, going way past my EDD was a beautiful thing! I relied on the strength and beauty of my family to press through a long labor and some postpartum complications I experienced. I would not change a single thing about my birth experience. I love you @artesiakabore ! --Isis
