We are New Noise. We’re going to save rock n’ roll. But we’re not stopping there. We’re going to reinvent what rock n’ roll means.
Well my dudes, we’re creating a podcast, like everyone and their brother. What separates US from everyone and said brother is that our podcast works on two levels; the first level being a fictional narrative driven by not only dialogue but music as well, the two art forms fused together to create a tapestry of music and sound, and the second level being a vehicle for changing the way people listen to music.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves…Allow us to slow our roll and tell you about the story:
Our story follows two young musicians who- after reading an online article (from a ‘zine, no less!)- believe that Rock N’ Roll as a musical art form is dead. So they create a musical group to save it. This will come as a shock to no one considering the premise but…absurdity ensues.
Season 1 of the podcast will feature the music of a small roster of rock artists woven into the narrative of each episode. We want you to get lost in the music as well as the story and form connections between these musical moments and particular parts of this crazy tale.
Down the line, we hope to feature an ever-expanding roster of young creative bands/artists to feature in the podcast. By scoring each episode with original music, we can dissect and showcase songs in ways not normally provided to artists. Listeners can gain a new avenue to engage with the music, and help them find a newfound appreciation for how the music is created and why it’s so important.
Next we want this story to bleed out of your headphones and into reality…
We’re hoping a major component each season will be a live event. Live tapings of the show’s episodes in the format of a rock concert, so the listeners can DIRECTLY engage with the artists featured in the podcast AND the characters in the podcast. We’re currently planning our first live event that will premiere in October in LA, but we’re open to travel to any city where people want to hear this music and this story. It’ll be something of a traveling musical installation, a shred-stallation if you will.
Why this is really important:
It’s about changing the current mold of an industry that siphons money away from creators and artists to unnecessary middlemen. We want to recarve the independent route, a trend that is picking up in recent years and EMPOWER young, unestablished artists to steer the trajectory of their own careers and give them a platform on which to do it. And most importantly we’re bringing ROCK N ROLL BACK because the revitalization of an entire genre of music as a singular artistic act has never been attempted, let alone achieved. And maybe…just maybe…we can prove to the world (and ourselves) that it never really left in the first place.
It starts and it ends with the music for us, but what defines what we do as an art form extends far beyond just creating and performing music. We want to change the way people engage with music, we want to change the way people engage with any particular medium or art form. And that’s what we want to do with this show, create something more than just a podcast, create something more than just an album. WE want to create something that transcends beyond medium in an innovative way.
Look we can’t save Rock N Roll by ourselves. Well, we could…it’d just take a lot longer without your help. And some of us live very unhealthy lifestyles so…you do the math. To make this idea a reality we need a space, and equipment, and to pay the engineer, and to schedule live events, and distribute the episodes/the music associated with it so everyone can hear and join and…to eat food. I’m hungry.
So join the cause, take the wave; everything’s gonna be rad.
