We can’t wait to see what the next couple months will look like for Louie as he gets back into physical therapy, gets a wheelchair, and takes on a few new adventures! We will be heading to Florida in a couple of weeks for a family vacation & for some prosthetic adjustments!

First day in Orlando was a success! New fittings are a game changer. Since Lous nubs are different lengths and only one nub has a complete femur, the more he grows the more pronounced the limb length difference has become. The team down here does an amazing job to tweak everything so Louie can run and do all the things while also keeping everything in alignment. We couldn’t do it without @poa_orlando & @jordanthomasfoundation ❤️ We also made a new friend today which is always a treat. It’s amazing how within the disability community, you can feel so knit together in such a short amount of time. We wrapped up the day with hours in the pool with the fam! Looking forward to more adventures tomorrow.

Big man needed some new leggies to accommodate some growth! Didn’t realize just how much of a difference adding just a little bit of length makes a difference in how much they weigh…. Louie is going to have to start doing some toddler CrossFit 😂 If you check out #poa_orlando page, you’ll see he was EXHAUSTED from just a couple hours of wearing the new legs. Life as a toddler bilateral amputee is no joke. We are so proud of how hard he works even on days when it takes a ton of extra bribery in the form of endless fruit snacks and his favorite show playing on repeat. You go Lou!

Hove the ways that Louie adapts and looks at the world. He was born without his middle digit and a fused thumb and pointer finger. We love his little hands and the ways he navigates modifying things to make the world a little easier for him. We have found him on several occasions using his numbs to open things or move things. When we were at the beach, he started using his nubs to move and compress sand rather than using his hands. Way to go Lou. Constantly blown away (and recently slightly terrified) at the things Louie pushes himself to do.He's typically wants us parents or siblings to be nearby or to hold his hand when trying new things.Today, we went to one of his favorite parks and he wanted nothing to do with us helping him at all.I will say I hope that parks continue to work on accessible play structures and materials because it's not enough for children with disabilities to sit and watch other kids play on half of the play structures because it's not safe for HEM #ivfwarrior #reelschallenge #reelsfbシ #reelsviralシ

Did you know that insurance doesn’t cover the cost of running blades for amputees? Louie’s “baby legs”, as he calls them, can limit him in so many ways. Insurance doesn’t see these things as medically necessary.

Thanks to the generosity of @cafoundation Louie is able to ride independently now. Living with a disability should not mean you sit on the sidelines. As Louie is getting older, we are working to make everything accessible for him and through that, advocate for others and help pave the way for more accessibility in the future. We couldn’t do it without so many amazing orgs and people who work hard to do that. Challenged Athletes Foundation is an amazing org that provides grants so that those living with disabilities can live active lives.
