Late Rain is a very different conception, both in its genesis and its ex*****on. yttriphie’s debut ambient album, “an extremely slow motion explosion” is getting lots of praise! Following a nearly 20-year absence, Michael Plaster (soulwhirlingsomewhere) returns with vapory music that is mellow and muted.

Exposé writes: "Everything comes in just right, light and dark and muted colors hovering in perfect balance as they cycle around you and unfold, not too smooth and creamy, but definitely something of a soft psychedelic mind-melt that can hold a listener’s interest over the long haul."

Watch VEiiLA’s new video: My Blues (live at May Dec Studio) Following the release of the extended version of their 2023 Projekt album, "Sentimental Craving For Beauty," the duo of Vif Nüte and Bes Eirid returns with a new video, the live version of their song "My Blues” performed this summer at May Dec Studio in Vanadzor, Armenia. This version (which is featured in the 26-track Deluxe Edition of the album), showcases the band in primal minimalist form. The already ascetic arrangement undergoes several more layers of purification allowing Bes and Vif to perform the song with the minimum involvement of pre-programming. (Despite their inclination to electronic music, in their live performances VEiiLA relies on a limited number of instruments which, apart from the sequenced drum-machine, are all hand-played). This spartan approach results in an even more intimate and spacey sound. The visuals represent VEiiLA’s fondness for noir-ish atmosphere, which in this case is attained by the grainy dark ambiance and cold cubist interior of the room as well as nervous camera movements that jump between close-ups and long shots, bringing to mind the work of Anton Corbijn. “My Blues” is the new music video from the band without a country VEiiLA. Taken from their recent Projekt album "Sentimental Craving For Beauty," the song blends vintage blues guitars with groovy Trip-Hop beats and subdued yet understated arrangement that leaves enough space for introspective allegorical lyrics half-sung, half-murmured by Vif Nüte. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAst_iw3CPw “My Blues” is the 12th track on VEiiLA's "Sentimental Craving For Beauty." Released to critical acclaim by Projekt Records on September 8 2023, the album won extremely favorable reviews in the alternative music press and led the chart of best albums of September on Echoes (the 40-year old daily radio show hosted by John Diliberto).
