DJ Ra’s sets explore the intersection of house, techno and progressive. Minor-key melodies take the forefront in his selections, many of which are laden with layers of synths and powerful, feel-good breakdowns. Sparse vocal chants and occasional tribal drums add further texture to DJ Ra’s sonic journeys, which work particularly within the context of a proper afterhours. The list of clubs whose decks DJ Ra has graced is plentiful. After cutting his teeth in humble restaurants and sports bars in the early 2000s, DJ Ra soon graduated to Rise and Therapy, two institutions respective to Boston and Providence. Often performing alongside DJ Aktiv under the name Neovision, DJ Ra opened for the likes of Desyn Masiello, Emjae, Deka, and Midas at these venues. The past decade has witnessed DJ Ra expand his resume with appearances at Avalon (Boston), House of Blues (Boston), The Phoenix Landing (Cambridge), Red Door (Portsmouth), Pulse (Providence), Sky Lounge (Nashua), and UnchARTed (Lowell). DJ Ra currently resides as a regular guest at The Keep (Lowell). He has also played occasional gigs outside New England as well as private parties hosted by Tradecraft and Exit.
