I have ALWAYS said that when you book me, expect to hear me sing my songs. It behooves me to promote MY music and not someone else’s. It also allows me to see how my music sounds to people other than myself.
Many times people would say, “you should do cover songs”. I don’t mind doing one or two but my set is definitely going to be MY music, MY style, and MY way as I’m an artist. Being an artist is basically branding yourself. I never wanted to become a cover artist. It can keep you stagnated in your career if you’re not intentional on what you’re doing.
If you’re working to become a set-aside artist, you need to trust yourself. Trust your judgement. Don’t be afraid to bet on your music. If your music isn’t received well, use that as a moment to learn and grow. Make better music. Get better producers. Learn your craft!
