Post #1000. 🍷✨ What a journey it’s been.

When I started this account in 2017, it was just a way to share my personal experience with wine — the bottles I loved, the ones that surprised me, and the ones that made me think. I used fruits, textures, and props to try and visualize how a wine tasted, long before I had the words to describe it. Along the way, I documented my WSET studies, traveled to wine regions around the world, and had the privilege of hearing and sharing the stories behind the bottles — from the people who make them.

I’ve always believed wine is about more than what’s in the glass. It’s about place, memory, and connection. And I’m so grateful to everyone who’s followed along, shared their own stories, and been part of this little corner of the wine world.

Here’s to the next 1000. 🥂

We finally made it back to — first time since they made the bold move to go fully plant-based in 2021. And wow. No meat, no fish, but definitely no lack of flavor or creativity. 🌱

Kai and I aren’t vegan or vegetarian, but we’ve been leaning more plant-based over the years — partly for health, partly for the planet. EMP just reminded us how good vegetables can be. Who knew spring lettuce and asparagus could be that tasty?? Loved that they partner with Magic Farms, which grows produce just for their seasonal menu — you can really feel that connection to the ingredients. Every dish celebrated what it was, without trying to imitate something else. Also shoutout to the service — warm, thoughtful, and you could tell the team genuinely loves what they do.

Friday mood: wine, pizza, and zero plans to leave the couch. 🍕🍷

Opened a bottle of Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello — a true Barolo classic. Smooth and harmonious with layers of cherry, raspberry, violet, and a touch of spice and earth. Complex enough to impress, easy enough to sip with pizza. 🥰 Because sometimes the best pairings are the easiest ones.

Hope everyone had an amazing Memorial Day weekend! My belly’s still full from all the BBQ… and my heart’s full from good hangs with friends. 💛

Not quite ready to dive back into work today, but… getting super excited for our Europe trip next week! ✈️ Can you guess where we’re headed? 🤔 Hint: Not particularly known for wine, but very known for epic food, jaw-dropping landscapes, and a little adventure!

Weekend nights like these - good friends, great wine, and conversations that stretch deep into the night. We opened four fantastic bottles, all from 2002, and each one had a story to tell:

🍷 Domaine Caillot Meursault – Still vibrant and textured, with that signature nutty charm and a silky finish.
🍷 Frédéric Magnien Charmes-Chambertin – Elegant power; beautifully layered and alive, a grand cru that truly delivered.
🍷 Albert Bichot Richebourg – Complex, brooding, and refined—this one spoke in whispers and lingered.
🍷 Domaine Grange des Pères – A total surprise. Wasn’t convinced by younger vintages, but this 23-year-old bottle was soulful and complete.
