Flashback 1975!
A Joe Evans aircheck from October of 1975.
Flashback 1975!
A quick aircheck of Rick Shannon filling in one afternoon in October of 1975. (Thanks go out to Trish McNorgan for leaving this short clip on the end of one of the airchecks she sent me.)
Rideau Canal, Ottawa, Canada.
GO/14 alumni will remember Ottawa's Rideau Canal. This promo video may revive a special memory or two. Merry Christmas to you and your families.
The Keys to Bayshore
Proving, once again, why radio stations should always have their 7-second delay on, here's CFGO's midday man Gary Michaels asking the contest question: Where do you think the Keys to Bayshore are hidden? (For those who don't know, Lowell Green was a very popular host on another radio station in town.) Like the pro that he is, Gary carried on like nothing happened. He was unflappable... and likely still is.
A Bay City Roller reads promos
From 1976...
We got Derek Longmuir of The Bay City Rollers on the phone to read some copy that would eventually make its way into on-air promos. It was a really crappy phone line, but once we EQ'd the hell out of it and mixed in some BCR songs, they sounded okay.
Steve Derringer Interviews Alice Cooper
Steve interviewed Alice one afternoon as Cooper was on his way to Ottawa for his May 3rd, 1975, "Welcome To My Nightmare" show at the Civic Centre. (It was a great show!) The interview was played back on Derringer's show later that same day.
Canada Now - The King Is Dead
As you know, Elvis Presley died Tuesday, August 16, 1977. This was the special Canada Now CFGO aired on Sunday, August 21, 1977.
I think it was that Friday night that Karen Gordon showed up at the production room door with a stack of carts and an idea to do a tribute to The King. I happily obliged. I think it turned out to be one of Karen and mine's proudest moments.
This is the first 11:30 of the two-hour show... the newsy segment. The rest of the show had Karen (like a pro) talking up tunes and telling us stories. The show has been on a 2-hour cassette tape for all these years and I'm having trouble dubbing it. Once I get the whole thing copied, I'll post the rest. Enjoy.
CFGO Sunday Night Specials Demo
This sales demo gave clients an idea of what the SNSs were all about. This is from March 1975 when CFGO's Dan Ferguson was hosting.
Aircheck: Dean Hagopian Part 1
From March 25, 1975, 6:30-7:27am.
CFGO morning man Dean Hagopian. This was one of those times when John Stewart was away and I'd end my overnight shift by op'ing for Dean. Then we'd go "while away" the day. Always a good time.
Aircheck: Dean Hagopian Part 2
From March 25, 1975, 7:59-8:32am.
CFGO morning man Dean Hagopian. This was one of those times when John Stewart was away and I'd end my overnight shift by op'ing for Dean. Then we'd go "while away" the day. Always a good time.
Mike Cameron's Demo Tape
This was the only demo tape I made while at CFGO. It's got stuff from '76 thru '78. At least it got me a job at CKO. There are some good Rick Shannon and Gary Michaels moments on it. And I really like the "bridge" for a Canada Now feature on Charlie Manson.
