Things are really messed up in the cosmos. Just saw a post that Tom Lucas, one of the original CFGO personalities passed away in his sleep on October 3/23. Tom was an incredible talent and a wonderful person. Condolences to Tom's daughters Stephanie and Miranda.

My phone and social media has been buzzing since early morning with birthday wishes. Thank you so much. I'm grateful & glad for another trip around the sun. September is my favourite month. It always feels like change is in the air with new beginnings and possibilities. Thank you for taking my musical journey through life with me. This Wednesday the family, friends and former co-workers say 'good-bye' to Ric Allen, the GO/14's first Music Director. The entire GO/14 crew were so very lucky to have Ric on our team. He knew how to pick the hits and he showed the announcers what 'smooth' was all about. Here is a Hit Chart featuring Ric before he left CKLW 'The Big 8' to join us in Ottawa.

You can tell how much Ric loved the radio business. He was a wonderful person and true talent.

This is very difficult news to post. We're beyond words with grief so we'll re-post from today's Big 8 CKLW feed about the passing of the GO/14's first Music Director and on air personality Ric Allen. Ric was such an exceptional on air talent as well as a wonderful friend to all at the GO/14. 😢 "And the goodbye makes the journey harder still" - Oh Very Young - Yusuf/Cat Stevens

Sad news for Big 8 friends today as we lost our pal former CKLW and CFGO14 DJ Ric Allen.
Ric was a huge supporter of Big8Radio over the years.

ATTENTION: This is a very hard post to write. Last night, we lost Ric Allen Niedzinski as he succumbed to the effects of a stroke, which he suffered on Saturday night. He was a “mentor”, and mostly a great friend! Ric will be missed by everyone who knew him and he knew everybody. Prayers to Donna and his family as they come to terms with this terrible news. My friend Mike McDowell will be writing a tribute, which I will share with everyone here on M M H.

Another Birthday Guy.....Huey Lewis turns 73 today.

Singer, songwriter & actor Huey Lewis has 73 candles on his birthday cake today. Of course you know Huey from his work with Huey Lewis & The News and probably from his work in the 1985 film "Back To The Future".

His birth name was Hugh Anthony Cregg III. In 1967, he achieved a perfect score of 800 on the math portion of the SAT. He was also an all-state baseball player.

In 1976, after playing in the Bay Area with limited success with a band called Clover, they went to Los Angeles. They had their big break in a club there when their act was caught by Nick Lowe who convinced Clover to travel to Great Britain with him. However, Clover arrived in Britain just as their folk-rock sound, known as pub rock in Britain, was being replaced by punk rock.

Under the name "Bluesy Huey Lewis", Lewis played harmonica on Thin Lizzy's 1978 landmark album 'Live and Dangerous".

Happy Birthday, Robbie Robertson.

Jaime Royal Robertson is celebrating his 80th birthday today. You will know Jaime much better as Robbie Robertson, a founding member of, lead guitarist and primary songwriter for THE BAND.

As a songwriter, he is credited for "The Weight", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Up on Cripple Creek", "Broken Arrow", "Somewhere Down the Crazy River", and many others. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and was ranked 59th in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists.

He received his name "Robbie" from teachers and students at school, who started calling him "Robbie" in reference to his last name.
