→ Get Pre-Approved: Going house hunting without being pre-approved is the equivalent of hitting the mall without your wallet. You’re basically window shopping. A pre-approval letter gives you the clarity you need during your home search, and it also shows sellers that you’re a qualified buyer when it comes time to make an offer.
→ Do Your Due Diligence: As a homebuyer, you are entitled to a due diligence period. This could be anything from verifying permits to having the home inspected.
→ Location, Location, Location!
The location of the house is just as important as the home itself. Trust me, it matters. You may not give much consideration to the local school system today, but as your life evolves, it will matter, especially when it comes time to sell.
→ Budget!
It’s important to understand the various costs that go into your monthly homeownership budget. Remember to account for taxes, insurance, any HOA fees that may apply, as well as home maintenance.
