This week I made my favorite meal: beef stew, ugali and sukuma wiki! I’m still learning to make ugali well 😅 this is probably my 3rd or 4th time making it myself. I’ve always preferred my dad’s way of making it hence why it took me so long to learn how to make it! 😂 Still I find it important to try anyways as I know he won’t always be close by to make it for me. What’s a dish your parent(s) made for you that even though you could make it yourself, you ask them to make it?

Today marks one week since I left the US to live in Kenya. It’s still such a surreal feeling to be back here again but this time to live and not just visit. I’ve already had a few delays with things but for the most part I feel pretty settled in! Minus the fact that my suitcases are not unpacked 😂 It feels good to be here and eating the foods I love the most like these samosas as I was not able to eat them regularly in the US. I’ll be using this page to document my journey of living here in Kenya so I hope you’ll join me as I show what my life is like 💖

✨Something I’ve wanted to discuss on here that I haven’t before is that I’ve been in the process of trying to get evaluated for Autism. It’s something I’ve discovered about myself in the past two years that has really opened my eyes to the kind of person that I am. I’ve always felt like the odd one out, especially in groups of people. It’s like everybody got this handbook to life and I got skipped over. As of right now, though I know self-diagnosis in these cases are valid, I don’t consider myself autistic as much as I consider myself neurodivergent. While many things about autism spectrum disorder resonate with me and my life, there’s other neurodivergent disorders that do overlap like ADHD. I just feel like having an official evaluation will solidify things for me. It’s been a lot to come to terms to the fact by society’s standards I’m considered “disabled”.
