His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, has directed that all revenue collection road blocks mounted at the entry points into the State Capital and along the Highway in Bayelsa State from the Mbiama - Patani axis of the East-West road should be dismantled with immediate effect.

Consequently, there will be no collection of revenues, levies, rates or any kind of fees/charges at the entry points from Mbiama to Yenagoa or the Glory Land drive to Yenagoa or any other entry point to the State Capital, same applies to the Highway between Mbiama and Patani.

Any revenue contractor or agent who professes to be collecting revenue on behalf of the State Government is untrue and is indulging in an illegal activity.

Any person or group of persons found flouting this directive will be arrested and prosecuted.

In a shocking turn of events, Daniel Amokachi has resigned from his position as assistant coach of the Super Eagles, just days before the team's crucial World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

According to OwnGoalNigeria, Amokachi's decision to quit was due to a disagreement over his role in the coaching hierarchy. Despite being appointed as one of the assistants to Finidi George, the newly appointed head coach preferred Benjamin James as his first assistant, relegating Amokachi to the position of second assistant.

Feeling undervalued and demoted, Amokachi decided to leave the team, citing that he deserves better treatment. Efforts are being made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and officials from the Ministry of Sports to persuade Amokachi to reconsider his decision, but he remains adamant.

Life is like the morning dew that moistures the leaves in the early hours and flips out in the evening. Untainted beauty becomes a shadow overnight, the music we dance to, we hear no more. Death makes us handicapped and lazy; it seals our lips and only allows tears to roll from our nostrils. Is it true that Mrs Blessing Oghale Gbenekama is dead and people are coming to Fiyewei's place together for the Service of Song? If so, what message will the preacher preach? Is it that the same fearful Book of Ecclesiastes? The book that only reminds us of sorrows and pains? LIFE is "Maran" Akpo!
When you lose a loved one, your mouth is sealed, your ears are blocked, and water keeps drizzling from your brain to the show of your nostrils--unexplained pains! People will come and go but the shadows of painful thoughts remain, not even alcoholic liquor or music will seal the pains--just be a man--they are part of life.

Life is transient. Those we saw yesterday flip away from our eyes like a now whose whitening brightness fades away from a solid state to liquid and melts to the earth so are men.

From the Niger Delta to the Philippines: Two Ijaw Sons Shine as Marine Engineers at Philippines University

Today marks a significant milestone as two Ijaw sons, Arerebo Yerinmene and Bakumor Pedro Jude, from the creeks of the Niger Delta, Nigeria, were officially certified and licensed as Marine Engineers. Their achievement was celebrated at the 47th Commencement Exercise and Convocation of the University of Perpetual Help, Binan, Laguna, Philippines.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, they were also inducted into the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL), Jonelta System Alumni Association on this memorable day, June 11, 2024.

A British sailor removes the leg chains off an enslaved man who had worn them for three years, 1907.

This photograph shows a sailor removing the manacle from a newly freed slave. The picture is part of a small collection donated by Samuel Chidwick to the Royal Naval Museum in Portsmouth. His father, Able Seaman Joseph Chidwick, born in 1881, was serving aboard HMS Sphinx.

The Africans featured in the photos escaped in a canoe from a slave-trading village on the coast on hearing that the Royal Navy ship was in the area.
In his report dated 15th October 1907, Commander Litchfield wrote that the ship received ‘six fugitives’ on a cruise off the Batineh Coast, Oman between 10th and 14th October. One of the fugitives had been manacled for three years and had escaped with his leg irons still on.
