Acculturation is the complex process of adapting and adjusting to a new cultural environment, however, acculturation does not occur in an empty environment. There are several influences and amongst the most popular, is mass media. The mass media of the host country’s culture plays a significant role in the immigrants’ acculturation process.
So we shall be focusing on a particular mass media platform which is TELEVISION!!!
Thus, has TELEVISION in anyway helped African Immigrants in the Western World in relation to their CLOTHING, BEHAVIOUR, and DIET etc!

Aim and Objectives of the Research Study
Prior research has shown that immigrants usually turn to media as a medium though which they can become acculturated. This study aims to determine the role mass media played in the acculturation experience of these first-generation immigrants. This study will investigate the experiences of first-generation African immigrants with respect to their use of mass media for acculturation. The use of mass media use of African immigrants for acculturation is approached from a Uses and Gratification perspective. The study at hand considers intercultural communication processes and relations mediated by news media in evaluating how different migrant groups experience acculturation in the UK, specifically Bournemouth.
