Musicians’ collective online label Minus Zero is proud to bring you a new round of releases on Friday, October 21 2022. This work continues in response to ongoing anti-abortion policymaking and, in the words of contributing artist Dan Clucas, to offer “expressions of artistic freedom… which represent in turn the personal and social freedoms so viciously under attack in our country.”
These recordings range from 2007 to 2021. Hearing them collected now perhaps inevitably recalls what composer Darren Johnston calls “the introspective melancholy felt by so many” in recent months and years, “as well as the joy and exuberance of finally being able to create music with fellow human beings again” in small group improvisations, hypnotic solo minimalism, and Johnston’s buoyant trumpet-led trio.
Available for purchase on release day, October 21. All proceeds above Bandcamp’s nominal fee support the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
