The Room have released a special single today called “Vanished (for Eric)”. It’s available exclusively as a download from their web site with the aim of raising money for a very worthy cause and in memory of our sadly missed wonderful friend, Eric Bouillette

Here’s what the band say about it so, please have a read and then click on the link, donate what you can and download a wonderful piece of music:-

‘It’s now just over a year since Eric passed away and there have been many tributes paid to our brother both written and recorded. We have waited until now before releasing this single to allow space for the other beautiful material to be enjoyed and his memory to be celebrated.

We said a great deal about what Eric meant to us and our wonderful fans at the time of his passing and we now want to formally remember the incredible contribution that he made to our lives, our music and obviously our humour.

Vanished (for Eric) is an instrumental version of the track Vanished taken from our album Caught By The Machine. Eric not only recorded the incredible guitar tracks and solos but he also featured on Violin on the record. There was enough material, that did not feature in the original mix, for Steve Anderson and our brilliant producer John Mitchell to create this new version of the song. Steve has added some new guitar and keyboard parts as well as trawling through the various takes that Eric recorded, bringing them to life in this new mix. The new single showcases the formidable talent that Eric possessed and we hope that you enjoy it!

In Eric’s memory we would like, with your help, to raise a substantial sum of money through the month of December with all profits from the single going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

'The time has finally come to announce our new bass player! We are incredibly excited to welcome multi-instrumentalist and composer extraordinaire, Charlie Cawood into the fold!

Based in London, Charlie is best known for playing with Knifeworld, Mediaeval Baebes, Anathema, The Anchoress, and Lost Crowns. Respected for his versatile and multi-disciplinary body of work, Charlie plays over twenty instruments from around the world, and has amassed dozens of recording credits and hundreds of live performances across a career spanning more than 15 years.

Here's what the main man himself has to say: "I'm very excited to be joining the brilliantly talented members of Kyros for the next stage of their sonic adventure. Shelby, Joey, and Robin have welcomed me kindly, and I can't wait to share the stage with them. Will this bold new endeavour yield miserable
triumph or glorious failure? Let's find out together."

It's 5 years this week since the brilliant debut album from The Paradox Twin, 'The Importance of Mr Bedlam', was released!

The album was the brainchild of the band's front person Danny Sorrell and it also includes two wonderful guest vocal performances from Kim 'Elkie' Seviour, as well a as a guest guitar solo from John Mitchell.

What a great album it is and it's not just us saying that. Just a few of the many reviews:-

If you missed the news from KYROS about Peter Episcopo BASS leaving the band, below is the band's announcement. It's been a pleasure working with Peter and we'd like to join the band in wishing him all the best for the future. He's a wonderful person and what a bass player!! He's made great contributions to all the releases pictured and more!

Onwards and upwards for the band though! They have lots of exciting plans so if you are a bass player and you think you can play music like the latest single (https://orcd.co/theendinmind) and you meet the band's criteria, here's a great opportunity!

The band's announcement:-

'The time has sadly come to announce the departure of our bassist, Peter Episcopo.
This was by no means sudden to the rest of the band as we’ve been aware of this decision for a while. Our recent shows were our last with Peter and the feeling was incredibly bittersweet and we feel privileged and grateful that more people than ever came out to see us and share the send off with us. We will all continue to be close friends with Peter and look forward to many more happy memories ahead outside of Kyros. Let’s all wish Peter the best of luck for his future endeavours!

A few words from the man himself:

“Hi all, My last note with Kyros was a D #, at the end of Cloudburst at the Lower Third in London. I never wanted it to end on that note, but hey…
After almost 10 years, it feels surreal to be announcing my departure from Kyros. The band has been a big part of my life ever since Shelby graced me with bass duties back in 2014. Playing with Robin, Joey and Shelby has been an absolute honour, a treasure that I will always hold dear. They’re insanely gifted musicians and keeping up with their skill level has been one heck of a challenge. I remember walking into our third ever rehearsal with a shirt saying ‘Sorry girls, I’m gay’… The bond grew strong. Fellow musicians quickly became friends. Friends became family. Jesus, so dramatic… All I’m trying to say is that I’m very fond of them. My eyes got watery when I last hugged them at the end of our last show together. I wish them all the best and will always be a fan of their music. I’m massively looking forward to the new material and I’m very proud of what we have achieved and to have been a part of this adventure.

I would like to take this opportunity to also thank you all for the continuous support over the years. I’ve met many lovely people and have played alongside many incredible bands on this journey.
I don’t know where, I don’t know when, but I know we’ll meet again.

And with our next shows a mere four months away - we must press on ahead and the search begins for a new bassist for Kyros. Time is of the essence but we are determined to find someone who fits our ethos, drive, determination and tenacity. We are ideally looking for a bassist who is based in the south/midlands of England, has a good ear for learning parts aurally, is capable of basic keyboard playing and backing vocals.

It's all happening with KYROS this week! They certainly went down well at Progdreams Festival in Holland at the weekend, Prog Magazine unveiled the awesome video of the band's new single, 'The End in Mind' and that single was released on Friday with great reactions!

Now, there's more to come as the band are live tomorrow, Weds, at The Musician Pub Leicester and this Sunday at a London Prog Gigs show at The Lower Third. It's well worth getting along to one of those to see why the band are building such a buzz!
