3 Count Radio

Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop in and give a quick update as to what's going on around 3 Count Radio Land.

I think the Christmas Season is going to be a hiatus section going forward. Looking back at 2019 when we last rebooted the show ... we stopped doing shows in December, and the same thing has taken place this go around. It's just too busy and stressful of a month with work and home stuff, so we had a hard time finding a couple of hours to dedicate to the show.

Also, since the start of 2024 ... we've hit some family challenges with the kids and school that need our full attention. Until things settle down in that regard, we have to put family first.

So, consider us on hiatus for a little while longer.

Mike is still planning on attending the Royal Rumble in St. Petersburg, so we will have a Royal Rumble podcast if nothing else. I'm hoping to do a little preview show and then a recap show.

Thanks for sticking around if you have, and we'll get back to the grind as soon as we can start dedicating time to watching wrestling again, lol.

What a wet fart of a promo I can't believe I stayed up and wasted 3 hours to watch.

Cookie cutter 2010 WWE style crap. In well over a decade of being a huge fan of this guy, who drove to Chicago and CRIED during his AEW debut, I'm actively put off for the first time.

That was the first promo I've EVER seen him cut that seemed disingenuous. The only part I believed even a little bit was the last bit, off mic "I'm here to make money."

Can't wait to see CM Punk on the Saudi shows. Might as well go full hypocrite at this point. -D

I've been thinking about Punk's return a bit since Saturday night and why I'm so cool with him returning to the WWE but had very little interest in him in AEW.

On the surface, it is a bit irrational.

It's no secret I prefer the WWE to AEW. Even when we relaunched in 2019 for the debut of Dynamite ... I seemed to find reason after reason to say NXT was better even though I could fully admit that the main roster stuff was mostly trash. I do enjoy AEW as a whole, but there is something about it that makes me lean into that "LoL AEW" group.

Is it just familiarity and nostalgia that the WWE has working for it? Is is presentation? Is it a sense of loyalty?

I watched Punk's return to wrestling with AEW and was happy for the guy, but it literally did nothing to move the needle for me to watch. I remember thinking, "oh look, he's going to feud with Darby Allin up there in the rafters ... that should be good..." and then never watched a minute of it.

But give me 2 minutes at the end of Survivor Series, with nothing but the crowd pop and a little feedback and I'm all in (no pun intended). So much so, I'm trying to think if there's any way I can stay up and watch RAW tonight despite having a 2am wakeup for work and a hell of a Tuesday of crap I have to get done AFTER work.

What is wrong with me? Or is it ... what is wrong with AEW that they had this guy and completely crapped the bed with it?

Obviously overshadowed ... Orton's return to the ring was pretty well done. We're not the biggest Randall fans on this show ... but I enjoyed his return. That spot where they fed JD to him for an off-the-cage rko was sick. Plus ... how swoll is that man?!? -M

This is the most legitimate shocking return to the WWE I can ever remember. I think this has the Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart beat easily.

I mean, we all joked about it because the show was in Chicago ... but I don't think any of us actually thought it was going to happen (at least at Survivor Series).

Dare was the most optimistic at 10%

Mike gave it a 4% chance

Ainsley was somewhere south of .002%

This is a guy who would routinely shoot on Triple H and be a pain in the ass for creative and a thorn in his side, so Triple H and Vince in turn fired him on his wedding day, Punk goes to the biggest competitor and says he's glad to be away from "sports-entertainment," Triple H says "Good, let him be their problem now," and then gets fired from AEW because he causes nothing but problems and can't get along with anyone.

Cue 'Cult of Personality' out of nowhere after the copyright bug runs. What a freaking wild ride. -M

Hot Take: November 9th, 2023...

Sami Zayn is going to win the 2024 Royal Rumble.

I feel with all of his promos recently, him getting a random world title shot out of no where, and him being the main player feuding with the stable that contains Senor Money in Bank ... this is all lining up for Sami to face Damien Priest for the World Title at Wrestlemania (and hopefully win).

Now, as Sami is my favorite current wrestler and I'm attending Royal Rumble in person ... this might be wishful thinking ... but I'm calling my shot now.

Things I wanted to talk about on the show and didn't despite the show being 2 hours this week:

1. Eddie Kingston and Jeff Jarrett had a super fun, ridiculously heely 5-1 street fight on Collision. I love that ref was disgusted to count at the end.

2. Eddie Kingston then cut a HELL of a promo on Jay Lethal

3. Curious to see Lexis King in action. Pillman was basically a total flop in AEW and these vignettes are more interesting than anything he did in 3 years there. If his wrestling has improved as much as his character seems to have, he'll have somethig.
