! Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) officers and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) troopers solved a kidnapping, robbery, and extortion case where a man was held hostage and tortured by two men after meeting a female for s*x at a local hotel on Friday, Oct. 21.

The preliminary investigation shows that Mortensen contacted the 24-year-old victim from College Grove, Tennessee via Facebook Messenger. The two agreed to meet at a Murfreesboro hotel to have s*x in exchange for $300 at 11:30 p.m. Friday. Once inside the hotel room, Montensen went into the bathroom and Kiningham and Frazier approached the victim, claiming to be officers from Nashville. The suspects would force the man to remove his clothing and give his bank information. The victim was taken to the bank at gunpoint and forced to withdraw thousands of dollars. After nearly 10 hours, the victim was dropped off at his home in College Grove.

The victim came to MPD headquarters Saturday afternoon to file a report. His pickup was returned Sunday after Frazier and Mortensen were arrested.

Harry Kiningham, 41, was arrested at the hotel on Silohill Lane where the incident occurred. Officers found what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine and ma*****na in Kiningham’s pocket. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping, robbery, extortion, and simple possession of drugs.

THP troopers spotted the victim’s stolen pickup truck at the same hotel around 2:22 a.m. Sunday. Jessica Mortensen, 25, and Joshua Frazier, 37, attempted to run from troopers, but Frazier was detained in the parking lot. MPD officers found Mortensen in a hotel bathroom. Both are charged with aggravated kidnapping, robbery, and extortion.

Frazier, Mortensen, and Kiningham are being held on $33,500 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Hearings are set Jan. 26 in General Sessions Court.

: The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) detectives are investigating a shooting where a man was shot multiple times in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sunday, Sept. 25.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Hawthorne South Apartments on Indian Park Dr. at 3:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows a man with a gun approached a car in the parking lot, and a man inside a white Honda Civic fired several times, striking the man standing outside multiple times. He was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

The exterior of two nearby apartments were struck by bullets. No one else was injured.

Investigators are working to determine a motive. They believe this is an isolated incident, and the men may have known each other. Right now, there is no immediate threat to the public.

Detectives would like to interview the driver of the Civic to get his version of what happened. Detectives also want to speak to a male teenager who was in the parking during the shooting. The two men are asked to contact Lieutenant James Abbott at 629-201-5523.

Rutherford County Fire Rescue, Christiana Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency, and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported vehicle fire inside an attached garage on Round Rock Drive around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Crews arrived to discover heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and beginning to make its way into the house.

The first engine arrived on the scene and began extinguishing the fire in the garage. The second arriving unit deployed another hose line to the front door, made entry, and began assisting with extinguishing the fire.

According to Lt. Andy Haston, crew members reported very poor visibility conditions upon entering the house but quickly located the fire and got it under control. “Although the garage, kitchen, and living room sustained substantial fire damage, all of the bedrooms remained intact, and a majority of personal property was recoverable,” Haston said.

No injuries were associated with the incident.
