Last night I saw a preview screening of this beautiful film, Sing Sing, starring Coleman Dinengo alongside a heartwarming cast of characters! When it’s released in August it’s a must see!

Based on a true story of inmates in Sing Sing who “rehabilitate” themselves through a theatre program that produces everything from original works, to Shakespeare to August Wilson. Oh, remember to bring a tissue or two! 💯❤️💯

I’m incredibly excited to launch and announce the 2024/2025 cohort of the Play Development Lab! My focus is to develop “new work for the world.”

For years I’ve taught and worked as a play development dramaturge for my students and clients. With the launch of the lab I’m taking my scholarly research and creative endeavors to the next level by formalizing a process that supports the collegiate environment and the professional playwright.

Professional women playwrights will work with me, as play development dramaturge and with a director to develop their work through one-on-one meetings, table work with a cast and a developmental reading.

Mecca Made Theatre Research is a freely available digital repository documenting theatrical production on the campus of Howard University from 1909-2019.

This research makes public for the first time a comprehensive digitized snapshot of the evolution of theatrical production on the campus spanning more than 100 years.

The documentation of the evolution of theatrical production at Howard University from 1909-2019 is the first phase of a research project I started in 2018 with my presentation at the Black Theatre Network/BTN conference in Memphis. A very enthusiastic response from a room filled with faculty and artist practitioner colleagues encouraged me to settle in and do the deep required research to bring this project to fruition.

Right now you can review production years 2019-1990. In a few weeks you’ll be able to review years 1989-1970! Plus, you can listen to interview snippets from alumni. https://sites.google.com/view/meccamadetheatreresearch/home

I hope that scholars, non-scholars, producers, directors, actors, playwrights and regular theatre peeps will find this research valuable in some small way!

Composting hack! I’ve composted for the past 5 years. I had a 2 bed system but it took up too much space in my small urban garden/homestead. So now I’m trying this vertical method since I don’t need a yo. Of compost right now. Are you a newbie composter? Let me know what you think of this idea!

Trying my hand at creating sourdough bread starter. I eat gluten free but after doing a ton of research I’m going to give sourdough bread a try since fermented bread is much easier to digest. However, y’all know me, it’ll only be bread that I made myself! So far the starter is very active which is a good sign. #goodeats #repeeatableeatables #joyfulliving
