Across the Fence

- Recon teams would use all of their senses, stopping periodically to listen for enemy forces.

Visualize nearby sounds with the new ”Stop, focus” mechanic. Detect the enemy before they detect you, and outmaneuver the NVA to achieve your objective.

- Area recon was a common task, with recon teams hunting for enemy fortifications or units.

Generate experience for character progression by locating, mapping and photographing enemy installations. Receive bonus experience for accuracy and precision.

Across the Fence

We’re excited to introduce Across the Fence, a new game mode SOON to be available in Alpha access exclusively for our “Captain” and “Major” Patreon supporters to test and give feedback.

Bullets. Shrapnel. Recon teams rarely made it out unscathed.

A simple, impactful medical system featuring:
-Increased player durability
-Location-aware injuries that impact gameplay
-Slow bleed-out, if left untreated

Recon teams were skilled warriors, training for the next mission.

Flexible soldier customization through:
-Unlockable equipment
-Passive traits, to improve performance.
Example: 30% less stamina consumption when running.
-Passive abilities, to better navigate the battlefield
Example: See the locations of suppressed enemies.
-Active skills, to escape difficult situations
Example: For the next 20 seconds, be 60% harder to spot. 120 second cooldown.

Introducing authentic new US Air Force gear:

The CWU-28/P Summer Flyers Suit and HGU-7/P Helmets were worn by US Air Force crews during the Vietnam war. The helmets are supplied in 3 different liveries - white, camo and black - with visor variants, and the Summer Flyers Suits are supplied with optional CSU-3/P Anti-G Suit variants for jet pilots. These additions represent authentic daily working gear for aircrews operating the C-119, some jets and some helicopters.

More than 190 Fixes and 100 changes have been made. You can find the full changelog below, meanwhile here are some of the update highlights that you might be interested on.
📷 Update highlights:
- Advanced flight models significantly improved (AH1, CH-34, Mi-2, OH-6a, UH-1, CH-47)
- 40mm gr***de launchers adjusted for easier integration with other mods and DLCs (see full notes)
- M19 reticle is now mildot calibrated
- Pleiku airfield: Added memorial for T.Lee (USAF) RIP brother
- Helicopters: Enabled GPS on all helicopter assets for gameplay purposes
- ACH-47: Missing ACH-47 cannon sounds
- MG42: Sonic crack sounds too loud for vn_792x57 and class vn_792x57_rifle
- Sounds: Horn Soundset spatial effect
- Boat Horn: Increase Boat Horn distance to roughly +1km (PTF and Shantou Boats)
- Internal sounds of M2 and M60 in CH-47 and ACH: 47 door and ramp guns
- Several weapons have had their ranging, sights or scopes adjusted for better accuracy
- Advanced logistics works better with larger vehicles

Tuk-Tuk Takeover

One of the most requested assets by our Patreon subscribers, we are happy to introduce the famous three-wheeled Tuk-Tuk. These were and still are to this day an important aspect to civilian life in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. These small rickshaw transports are called Tuk-Tuks, or Xe Lam in local language, and were a common sight in cities in the Republic of Vietnam. We have also added 2 armed variants for the VC to use during urban uprisings.

Introducing the L1A1 Shorty 🇦

The L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) is a semi-automatic battle rifle carried by Australian and New Zealand troops during the 1950s and 60s. It is chambered in 7.62x51 NATO, and fed by 20 round magazines, but can also take 10 and 30 round magazines. This SAS variant was field-modified with foregrip and cut-down barrel, with added tape on the muzzle brake.

Introducing the Model 77E

The Model 77E is an American 12 Gauge Shotgun produced in the 1960s fed by a 4 round tube magazine. Purchased by the US Military, it became the most widely used shotgun during the Vietnam war with over 60,000 M77E shotguns manufactured. The M77E was the first combat shotgun fitted with a rubber recoil pad and had a noticeably shorter stock than other shotguns from the time to accommodate smaller stature individuals such as the South Vietnamese, which the majority of the US order of shotguns went to. This however led to a lot of the stocks breaking at the thinner base from combat usage over time. Jim “Wild Carrot” Shorten used a sawn-off version of the M77E.

Introducing the FM 24/29 🇫🇷

The FM 24/29 (Fusil-mitrailleur modèle 1924 modifié 1929 is a 7.5x54mm Light Machine Gun fed from a 25 round removable box magazine. Designed in 1924, it became the standard issue machine gun for the French Army until the mid 1960's. Brought to Vietnam by the French Army during the Indochina War, the FM 24/29 found its way into the hands of North and South Vietnamese forces for usage at the squad level.

Some New Variants

- Captured Type 56's were often carried by ARVN Roadrunner Teams and SOG Recon Teams impersonating PAVN forces. This variant of the Type 56 was mounted with an XM148 Gr***de Launcher by SOG Legend Jerry M. Shriver.

- The HD Military is a semi-automatic pistol. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle and fed by 10-round magazines, and had either a suppressed or unsuppressed barrel. This weapon was first developed as a military version of a civilian market pistol for use with the OSS during WWII. Members of MACV-SOG during their time in Vietnam still had these in storage which the veterans found useful for silently taking down tracker dogs that were hunting their trail.

- The Kulsprutepistol M/45, or Swedish K is a submachine gun designed in 1944. Chambered in 9x19mm and fed by a 36-round magazine it was used extensively by US Navy SEALs and SOG Recon Teams during the Vietnam War. This SOG variant has a **custom foregrip** and has a folding frame stock.

Introducing the Model 12
The Model 12 is an Italian 9x19mm Submachine gun produced starting from 1959 fed from a 20 round, or 32 round removable single stack magazine. Despite the submachine gun only being issued to the Italian police and law enforcement in a limited capacity, the weapon managed to end up in the hands of the US Marines and other US persons fighting the infiltrators that attacked the Saigon US Embassy in 1968.

Introducing the Model 50

The Model 50 is a 9x19mm Submachine gun produced in the 1950s fed from a 32 round removable single stack magazine. Bought by the United States and the Republic of Vietnam, the M50 SMG found its way into the hands of both the forces fighting in the south and communist forces who captured the weapon and made its name as a cheap, simple but reliable submachine gun.

Presenting: the OV-10 Bronco.

Developed in the 1960’s the OV-10 saw service during the Vietnam war via the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. The OV-10’s low-speed maneuverability and ability to utilize unimproved airstrips led to its use as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) aircraft supporting MACV SOG teams. With the fuel capacity for 5 ½ hours of flight time and a cockpit that allowed pilot and co-pilot very high visibility it would see use as a FAC aircraft until the mid 90’s.

Introducing the G-Jet Mark I Rocket Pistol

The G-Jet Mark I is an American 13x50mm Rocket Pistol produced in the 1960’s fed by a 6 round internal box magazine. Privately purchased by MACV-SOG Members, it saw limited use in Vietnam for its advertised features of being quieter than regular fi****ms, having less recoil and higher pe*******on capabilities with the microjet round that it fired. However due to round being individually handmade the microjets had a large variance in accuracy.
